Is peak season that bad? How to mentally prepare?

Been with Amazon for a couple months now, prime went alright, but I’d be lying if I said if I said part of me didn’t want to quit after working 6 11 hour shifts in a row. I’ve got a pretty strong mental capacity when it comes to working long shifts…. I was just burnt but that day off refreshed me and i’m chillin lol.

However, I overheard some of the “vets” talking to some new people about the upcoming peak season, the way they explained it was “3 months of straight hell”

I’m not complaining about the money, that paycheck was definitely nice, but how the fuck do I prepare to work 5-6 days a week for 3+ months straight LMAO kinda stressin

Thinking about trading in 2024 Civic Sport for 2016 IS350

As the post says, thinking about trading my 2024 civic sport in for a 2016 IS350

Both cars have 29k miles, I currently have over $8,000 in equity in my civic & I received an offer for $22,800 — I owe $14,000.

The IS350 is $24,900 out the door, I’d be financing about $17,000 after fees. IS350 is one owner, oil changes done every 4-5k miles, clean title. I’ve heard great things about the 2GR-FSE.

The Reason: I want something more tunable, I’ve done everything possible to the K20C2 that’s in my current civic, full paint matched body kit, coils , carbon parts, JDM bumper swap, Full bolt on, you name it.

I want something with more power, tunable & that’s going to be reliable as long as I take care of it.

Is this a good trade worth “downgrading to a 10 year old car?”

Or are there any other options around the $25,000-$35,000 price point?

Expired NREMT, Need Florida Answers Please!

Accidentally posted this in r/ems so I’m here even though I’m not exactly new. I know questions like this have been asked before, so I won’t bore ya’ll with too many details.

Anyways let my NREMT expire past the “continuing education” deadline. I took a break from EMS, so I ignorantly didn’t keep up on it.

Anyways, I’m not working as an EMT right now, but want to transition back into it sometime soon, using my Florida License that’s still active until the end of the year.

The main question is, will I have an issue keeping my Florida license up to date without my NREMT when I go to update my license in December??

I plan on retesting eventually, any study tips for the new testing style would be appreciated as well if ya’ll have the time. It’s been 3+ years since I took the test lol.

Thanks in advance!

3rd party company trying to make entry by unlocking my door and not knocking.

Hello, I’m fairly new to apartment living, about a year or so in, I’m young.

Anyways I received a paper a week ago that a 3rd party company was coming to do “routine maintenance” no time was given and while I was taking a nap they tried to make entry by unlocking the door without warning or knocking.

I had the deadbolt locked (found out from my cameras) so they didn’t actually make it in.

Anyways I received a notice last night that they would be coming “sometime today” to finish the apartments they were unable to a week ago. I have to work today and don’t feel comfortable with a 3rd party company that’s not my apartments maintenance workers being in my apartment without me there… The apartments official maintenance workers are very nice and I have no problem with that.

Do I just have to suck it up? I have no issue with that just curious about my renters rights here in Florida. If they gave me a proper time I’d actually be able to call off work to be there and accommodate it. But showing up at 7pm like last time is a little ridiculous in my opinion.

I work night shift for clarification, thanks in advance!

Edit: I have no problem getting over the fact that they may come by while I’m not here, just a little bit of a more dynamic situation due to my work/sleep schedule and being OCD about keeping all my locks locked when i’m napping. These replies were very helpful, thank you all!

Considering Leaving Florida, Early 20’s, Wife & Kid 55K a year.

Apologize for the ramble in advance, any advice is appreciated, looking to hear your success stories on leaving the sunshine state :)

Born & raised Floridian here. I’m in my very early 20’s, have a wife & kid & entertaining the idea of relocating by the end of, if not next year.

My reasoning behind this is the cost of living and the insane amount of people moving to my city. I remember being in high school just a few years ago enjoying the mid sizeish town & then blinking… all of a sudden, apartments everywhere, constant construction.. tourism everywhere, you get the point.

I make around 50-60K a year depending on OT, & my current monthly expenses are killing me. I pay about $4,000 a month for bills, rent alone for a one bedroom apartment for us is $1,800. To me this is absurd. Adding on gas, insurance, car, groceries etc. we’re living pretty much pay check to paycheck with jobs paying over $20/hour.

I was a first responder (EMT) before transitioning at the time making $16/hour & straight up had to leave the profession I was so passionate about just to continue to survive & provide for my family.

We have family up north, CT, Maine, Mass & NH. Seriously considering moving up north due to the wage increase. Family & friends our age who live up north are in similar situations with families are comfortably affording 2 bedroom apartments, able to afford going out to dinner and just enjoying life every now and then.

Recently I feel like i’ve been working paycheck to paycheck to live in a state hotter than hell, and more packed than a can of sardines. Just straight up miserable.

Is the grass actually greener on the other side? Or is the economy just as fucked up north as it is down here?

Edit: To clarify, we don’t want to buy a house anytime soon — While we have family up north that’s not what we’re absolutely set on, open to any suggestions, just want somewhere comfortable to live that’s fun for a young family. We dont need a super fancy flashy lifestyle, just A! lifestyle.

3.5k In credit card debt would trading in my car be a good option to pay it off?

I know, you’re probably reading the title and thinking “wtf”?

Allow me to explain, please bear with me lol

I’m currently in the process of rebuilding my credit, I’m 22 years old and have around mid 500ish credit score due to poor financial decision I made at 18 years old.

I’ve now gotten myself to the point where I only have one credit card which has a $3,500 balance. HOWEVER, while it’s my last credit card left to pay off, it’s increasing every month due to its insane 20%+ APR.

My only other debt I have is about $12,000 In a 2024 vehicle that I recently got an offer of $22,000 for. This would immediately put $10,000 in my pocket. I’ve always made my car payments on time & while I love my car, I wouldn’t mind getting into something cheaper and using $3,500 of that amount to pay off the debt and the rest as a downpayment for a cheaper vehicle that I can comfortably make payments on to continue to build my credit. The only thing saving me and somewhat building my credit right now is making my car payments on time for the last 3ish years. Why not get a car worth $10,000 and have no payment? My car note isn’t an issue for me and is significantly helping my credit, but the credit card is doing damage and needs to be fixed asap.

I do not have $3,500 to pay this off right now, and I fear if I continue to ignore it, the balance will be irreversible damage in a year or two..

So, would selling my car, paying off the debt, and using say $5,000 to put a downpayment on a cheaper car be worth it? I know getting an auto loan would be tough right now, and I have a co signer. I would not be going out and buying a brand new $30,000 car, it would be something sub $20,000 that I know I can afford and will be reliable.

Or should I go about this another way? Like a loan with a lower APR? I just wouldn’t even know where to start with that.

I’m open to all criticism and suggestions, thank you all in advance — From a young kid who’s crawling his way out of poor financial decisions.

(I make about $50,000 a year for clarification and after monthly expenses I’m only able to pay the minimum balance)
