1 month into housemanship

A fucking roller coaster indeed, thankfully the joblists are doable and ngl i actually enjoy it.My colleagues are helpful most of the time and i believe i do have a good support system overall.

The one thing I despise are some of the MOs in my department who are hella toxic with their high egos bruh.Im not sure how long can I last with all of this yelling, passive aggressive type shit

I guess thats life but damn, it sucks lah

I’ve been blown away by her work on The Pitt. She brings such a raw, lived-in authenticity to Dr. Santos that it feels completely effortless. What stands out most is her incredible range of facial expressions and those subtle, minute shifts in her features, tiny changes that convey complex, layered emotions in a way that feels fresh and spontaneous every single time. You’ve never quite seen that exact look from her before, yet it’s always exactly right for the moment. She carries so much emotion right there on her face with total ease and precision.

Her scenes with Dr. Langdon are a masterclass in this. Whether it’s the annoyed glances and interruptions during their patient treatments in Season 2, or the charged hallway confrontation in S2E11 where Langdon finally apologizes her face moves through irritation, defensiveness, lingering hurt, skepticism, and unresolved tension without ever feeling forced. You can see the history and their complicated similarities (both wrestling with different forms of “addiction”) playing out in real time through her micro-expressions.

Another standout is her reaction in the S2E9 scene with the Haitian-American siblings (Jude and his sister Chantal), whose parents were deported back to Haiti after an immigration hearing. As the sister tearfully explains the impossible situation she’s in—dropping out of college to raise her brother, the fear of family separation Santos’ face shifts in such a nuanced, powerful way. You see shock, empathy, quiet outrage, and a fierce protectiveness all flicker across her features. She advocates strongly for keeping the siblings together, and those subtle reactions make the moment feel deeply human and heartbreaking. It’s a perfect example of how Briones uses tiny facial cues to convey big emotional truths without overt drama.

Briones has this rare ability to make every reaction feel alive and unpredictable, like we’re watching a real person navigate high-pressure chaos rather than an actor performing. She’s shown massive range here (and in her theater work), and more people need to recognize how special her talent is!
