ID Help

TLDR: ID needed for organism located near freshwater shrimp tanks.

Had a tiny petri dish resting next to some of my freshwater shrimp tanks in a cluttered area. I found a weevil in my apartment and placed it in the petri dish to photograph it. While taking a video, I saw movement in a water droplet that I assume came from one of the tanks while doing maintenance, so I decided to get my microscope out and I found this guy. Doesn’t look like the detritus worms I have typically found in my tanks. Can anyone help ID? Video at the end is of the weevil :)

Magnification: First video is 100X, second is 40X. Microscope used: AmScope B120
Camera used for weevil video: iPhone 16 camera with Xenvo clip-on macro lens

It finally happened 😔😔

I’ve placed him in some isopropyl alcohol for now (all I had on hand) after verifying that he had passed.

Sea Monkey x Biology Crossover!

Please excuse the dust, I’m just getting set up!

For my fellow nerds: I got my hands on a gel electrophoresis chamber from work that was going to be thrown away. I removed the power cables to make room for an air stone tube and a thermometer. I will be setting up a heater soon after monitoring how it does without it. Lighting will come from the light in the second picture. I will be attaching it to the underside of my shrimp tank stand.

My only question (although it feels silly to ask): Will the green tint from the lid have any impact on the growth of the sea monkeys/algae?

Xanax and Alcohol

I am taking Xanax for the first time next Friday (around 4PM) for anxiety with flying. I was told to take 0.5 mg. Sunday night I was planning on going on drinking with friends around 8PM. Is this enough time for me to safely drink? I’m seeing mixed information online and I’m not sure with the dosage I’m taking.

Help with qualifying for MLS exam without MLS degree

I have a BS in Biology and an MS in Biology. I really want to have a slight education/career change and become a certified MLS, but I’m having trouble navigating my options. I have found a few programs that cost less than $1000 and would allow me to sit for the exam, but they don’t begin until August of next year. I would still prefer that over paying for some other program that’s going to run me well over $10K. I know another option (because of my education) is to work in a qualified lab position for a year, but I’m having trouble finding said qualified positions that don’t actually require an MLS to apply. Are they really that hard to come by or am I just looking in the wrong places? I’m very serious about this and am trying so hard to stay hopeful, but I can’t help but feel discouraged.

TLDR; BS/MS in Biology wanting to know the best options for becoming MLS certified.
