Relative sending a small envelope to Canada from Germany, being returned.

My cousin sent a small envelope from Germany to Canada through DHL. He saw that it got to Canada about a week and a half ago, so we were awaiting someone coming and needing a signature, or getting a notice in the mail, to pick up and sign. He just looked up the tracking again, it says it couldn't be delivered and is going back to Germany. What the heck. Address was fine.

German citizenship by descent

Has anyone here, not living in Germany, done all the legwork themselves to get German citizenship by decent, or would it be better to go through one of the legal offices that helps you. I'm in Canada. If I could claim it, my kids should be able to. I will likely have to get his German birth certificate, my mom's maybe from Hungary, his citizenship for the year, but I'm sure it was after I was born, from Canada, but I have his last German passport from the 80s, I was born in Canada in 1967.

My dad was born in Germany in 1936, and came to Canada in the mid 50s. He got Canadian citizenship, and got married and had us 3 kids. I know he had a German passport in the 80s roughly. Maybe he had dual citizenship? I still have an uncle, cousins etc, who didn't come to Canada. What's the chance I could claim citizenship and can my Canadian kids claim it?

Don't have any of my dad's parents info, but both born and died in Germany.

Dad, born in Dorlar, Germany 1936

Emigrated to Canada 1955-1958 (may be able to find it)

Married my mom in Canada 1959

He did get Canadian citizenship, and I know he went on a trip to Germany and he got a German passport, maybe through the German consulate in Toronto.

Mother born 1939 in Hungary immigrated to Canada, never got Canadian citizenship

married in 1959

Myself, born in Canada 1967
