Should I invest the remaining 20% of my portfolio into an international ETF or bonds?

Who is still doing “VTI and Chill” ?

I have 72% of my portfolio in VTI and on the fence if I want to add VXUS, VT or QQQM.

For the people that is still doing VTI and chill, why are you not adding international or tilt to other sectors?

Is anyone in here 100% sp500 or do you also have international allocation?

I’m replacing an iPhone 16 pro (personal phone) with the white 17 pro and replacing an iPhone 13 Pro (work/travel phone) with the blue 17 pro. The blue 17 pro was bought from China because it still has a physical SIM card reader unlike the American version. I will be doing more traveling to Asia next year so I need a physical SIM card reader. I originally planned to keep the 16 pro but my older brother said his 14 pro became slower and the battery drain was getting worse, so I decided to give him my 16 pro.

I am trying to rebalance my portfolio and need some advice.

My current portfolio is $775K: $570K in VTI (72%) and $205K in cash in money market fund, SPAXX (28%).

I am thinking about investing $150K (20%) into VEU, total international large and mid cap markets and the rest of the 8% cash into treasuries.

Or all the 28% cash into VEU.

I'm trying to prepare my portfolio for a recession.

I'm 42yo, single, no kids, no debt, also have another $210K in an HYSA, and a paid-off condo.

I am open to advice. Thank you

I’m 42M, no kids, no debt, paid-off condo living in HCOL area. My business has not been doing so well this year because of the economy and I am stressed out and burnt out. So, I will be closing it down by December. I want to take a 2 year sabbatical to improve my health and do some traveling. 12 years of doing my business has taken a toll on me and never really got to travel too much because of the time constraints.

Current portfolio: $764K: $560K in VTI, $204K cash. I plan to invest $150K of the $204K cash into VXUS or QQQM and leave the rest in cash or bonds.

Paid off condo worth around ~$630K.

I have another $210K in an HYSA. I will be using some of this money for the two year sabbatical.

My annual expenses are about $35K/year but plan to spend about $70K/year during the sabbatical because of traveling. Once the two year sabbatical is over, I already have plans to start a different business that is more meaningful and doesn’t carry all the stress.

Some of my friends tell me it’s a bad idea to go on a 2 year sabbatical because a recession is looming around the corner. But I really feel like I need this for the sake of my physical and mental health. I would like to do some traveling while I’m still young too. I would like to start the 2 year sabbatical at the beginning of 2027.

I’m open to advices. Thank you.
