Anyone unemployed for 2 to 3 months got PF Form 31 (Illness) approved under EPFO 3.0?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to know if anyone here has been unemployed for the last 2 to 3 months and applied for an Advance PF Withdrawal under Form 31 under the Illness category after the rollout of EPFO 3.0.

I am in the same situation. I submitted my claim on 13 July 2026, but there has been no movement so far.

Has anyone with a similar situation had their claim approved recently?

If yes, could you please share:

* How many days it took for approval? * Is the same amount approved you applied for ? * Was any additional document or clarification requested? * Which EPFO office processed your claim? * Any grievance you made for the same if yes, how did you proceed ?

Any recent experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

EPF 3.0: Need advice on Illness Advance vs Full & Final Withdrawal (DOL updated, service <5 years)

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading a lot of posts on this subreddit, but I still have a few doubts regarding EPF 3.0 and would really appreciate advice from people who have already gone through this process.

My situation

  • Applying for the first time.
  • Date of Leaving (DOL): April 2026 (already updated in EPFO)
  • Currently unemployed
  • Total EPF membership: Less than 5 years
  • While applying for Form 19, the portal shows Eligible Amount = around ₹90,000
  • PAN is linked.

I'm trying to figure out the safest way to withdraw the maximum amount without creating any issues later.

Option 1: Illness Advance (Form 31)

I was thinking of applying under the Illness category first.

Since the maximum eligible amount is 75%, that would be around ₹67,500.

My questions are:

  1. If I apply for an illness advance after my DOL has already been updated, is that allowed, or should I directly go for Full & Final (Form 19)?
  2. Is there any TDS deduction on an illness advance like there can be on a final withdrawal?
  3. Has anyone here successfully taken an illness advance first and then later applied for Form 19?

Partial Settlement Doubts

I've seen several posts where people applied for a certain amount under the illness category but EPFO settled only a part of it.

For example:

  • PF Balance = ₹90,000
  • Applied = ₹48,000
  • Approved = ₹24,000

In that case:

  1. Will the remaining balance simply become ₹66,000 in the passbook?
  2. Can I immediately submit another illness advance after the first claim is settled, or is there any cooling-off period?
  3. Has anyone here made multiple illness advance claims under EPF 3.0?

75% Eligibility Calculation

This is my biggest confusion.

Suppose:

  • Total PF Balance = ₹90,000
  • 75% eligible = ₹67,500

If EPFO approves only ₹24,000 in the first illness claim, then for the next claim is the eligible amount calculated as:

Option A: 75% of the remaining balance (75% of ₹66,000 = ₹49,500)

OR

Option B: Remaining portion of the original 75% limit (₹67,500 − ₹24,000 = ₹43,500)

Has anyone actually tested this under EPF 3.0?

Full & Final (Form 19) Doubt

Another concern I have is about Form 19.

The portal says the "(Amount subject to change during processing at EPFO office)"

Suppose my eligible amount is ₹90,000, but EPFO settles only ₹70,000.

In that case:

  1. Is the remaining ₹20,000 still visible in the PF account/passbook, but not eligible for withdraw again ?
  2. Can I file another claim for the remaining amount?
  3. Or does Form 19 permanently close the account even if the settlement amount is lower than the eligible amount?

I'm trying to understand whether it's safer to:

  • directly apply for Form 19, or
  • first take multiples of an Illness Advance and then submit Form 19 for the remaining balance.

If anyone has gone through this recently under EPF 3.0 (or even older), especially after the new implementation, I'd really appreciate hearing your experience.

Thanks in advance!
