[HELP] Duplicate UAN created by organisation where the employee never joined

Hi All,

My friend had an offer from Company X in 2018. He submitted all documents for BGC and Onboarding but decided against joining the company later and never joined. He joined another company and worked there for 8 years before switching to a new organisation recently.

Now, in his new organisation, they have flagged a BGC dispute claiming that there is another UAN created on his name and is Aadhar/PAN linked which is overlapping with other employment for 15-20 days.

My friend only has one UAN since his first employment and the same was provided to every company that he has worked in.

Now how can he get rid of this duplicate UAN created on his name and delink from Aadhar? The company has provided entry and exit days for this new UAN.

Kindly help.

The employer and I contribute only ₹1.8k/month to PF despite a ₹1 lakh basic salary. Is this normal? Should I ask HR to increase it

Hi everyone,

I recently switched jobs, and my basic salary is ₹1 lakh/month.

However, I've noticed that both my employer and I are contributing only around ₹1,800 each per month towards EPF.

From what I've read online, EPF contributions are supposed to be 12% of basic salary, so I was expecting a much higher amount. I'm confused about how this is allowed.

For reference, my office is based in Hyderabad, if that makes any difference.

Also, since my savings are already well above my monthly expenses, would it make sense to ask HR to increase my PF contribution? Has anyone here done that? Are there any downsides (other than lower take-home salary), or is it generally a good idea for long-term retirement savings?

Would appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Now, After I worked in new organization for 3 years I got layed off and I am looking for a job and companies revoking my offer letters even if I inform them beforehand about this overlap situation. I don't know what to do.. it feels like my career is destroyed.

Update: My EPFO ~₹10 lakh transfer issue is finally resolved after 10+ months - sharing what worked

Hi everyone,

About 9 months ago, I posted here regarding an EPFO issue where my PF transfer was stuck due to EPS eligibility complications, an unresponsive employer, and grievances being closed without any meaningful resolution.

Original post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/epfoindia/comments/1nsqa4a/epfo_closed_my_grievance_without_resolution/

Since many people face similar issues, I wanted to share the complete journey and final outcome.

Background

When I joined my previous employer, my wages exceeded ₹15,000. Because of that, I should have been treated as an EPS non-member.

However, EPFO records showed pension contributions, which later created complications during PF transfer and withdrawal processes.

At one point:

  • Previous employer was not responding.
  • EPFiGMS grievances were being closed without resolution.
  • PF transfer was not happening.
  • PF records appeared inconsistent.
  • I wasn't sure whether money had been lost or whether my PF balance was correct.

It was extremely frustrating because every system seemed to point somewhere else.

What I Did

1. Raised EPFiGMS Grievances

I initially raised grievances through EPFiGMS.

Unfortunately, some were closed with generic responses and without actual resolution.

2. Followed Up With My Employer

I repeatedly contacted my previous employer requesting action and clarification.

The response was either delayed or non-existent.

3. Escalated Through CPGRAMS

Since EPFiGMS wasn't helping, I escalated the matter through CPGRAMS.

This brought more visibility to the issue.

4. Escalated Through DPG

I later filed a grievance through the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DPG).

This ensured the issue remained active and received additional attention.

5. EPFO Reviewed the EPS Eligibility Issue

Eventually, EPFO processed the correction and recognised that I was effectively a non-EPS member for the affected period.

As a result:

  • EPS-related entries were adjusted.
  • Pension amounts were reconciled into PF records.
  • No money was lost.
  • The final balance was accounted for correctly.

This was the most confusing part of the entire process.

Timeline

Date Event
Aug 2025 Initial grievance process started
Aug 2025 – Apr 2026 Multiple follow-ups, employer communication, EPFiGMS and escalations
23 May 2026 PF Transfer Claim (Form-13) submitted
09 Jun 2026 PF Transfer approved by EPFO
23 Jun 2026 Transfer amount reflected in current PF account

Final Result

✅ Transfer completed successfully

✅ Old PF account balance became zero

✅ Transfer amount (~₹10 lakh) credited successfully

✅ PF balance updated correctly

✅ No pending requests

✅ No money lost

Most Important Finding

For months, I was worried because the passbook showed negative pension-related entries and large adjustments under the employer contribution section.

At first glance, it looked like a significant amount had disappeared.

After the correction and transfer were completed, I learned that these entries were part of an EPFO accounting adjustment related to EPS eligibility. The amounts were reclassified within the PF records rather than being deducted or lost.

Takeaways

  • A negative pension entry does not automatically mean money is lost.
  • Large adjustment entries can be part of an EPS-to-EPF correction process.
  • Verify the final balance only after all corrections and transfers are completed.
  • Keep screenshots and records of every grievance and escalation.

Lessons Learned

  • Don't panic if you see negative EPS values after a correction.
  • Keep screenshots of everything.
  • EPFiGMS alone may not always be enough.
  • CPGRAMS escalation helps.
  • DPG escalation can help when matters remain unresolved.
  • PF transfers can take additional time even after approval.
  • Continue checking the passbook after approval because funds may take days or weeks to reflect.

Hopefully this helps anyone facing a similar EPFO/EPS transfer issue.

Happy to answer questions if anyone is going through the same process.

Amount successfully transferred after being stuck for 3 years. Big thanks to this community

I had been struggling with transferring the epf balance to my current org. Had joined epfo in 2011 with low wages so eps was created. Everything was fine from my new orgs deposits pov but transfers were getting rejected left right center from epfo team citing there should be no deposit in eps.

Big thanks to the community for patience in understanding the issue and guiding correctly to raise the transfer request again and also raise a grievance immediately.

In the other sub, some agents had reached out charging 20k to resolve the issue but this sub did it absolutely free of cost.

Thank you so much, this takes away so much uncertainty I had over the years. It took barely 30 days for transfer to happen. Wish you good luck and success for helping out so many people.
