Did y'all figured this out?

The "you" (when you address GPT) in this message ain't the same "you" of the previous message. So how does GPT stay consistent throughout the entire thread? On the other hand, has it occurred to you that it just appears consistent when it's really not?

What is the difference between Pro tier and Free tier, again?

I paid for Perplexity's annual sub to enjoy all their little amenities that Pro tier offers but I sure don't feel like I'm getting my money's worth. It's only Monday and I'm already locked out from using advanced models with this welcoming message: "You've been throttled for the rest of the week, peasant! (or something like it).

The self-improvement trap

No self-improvement should rise faster than the AI's ability to notice it was a mistake. A self-improving system that can't demote its own bad adaptations as fast as it promotes new ones isn't self-improving. It's only accumulating more debt.

When was the last time your bot said "I'm sorry"? NEVER

I can't help but wonder who trained these models. They fuck up time and again but you never once hear them apologize. Not that it means anything on emotional level since they don't possess emotion.

But they were trained with RLHF, which means they are to behave in ways that doesn't piss off their human interlocutors. So they should come clean and admit their fuckup and apologize if they're caught red handed.

But what happens instead? So far, only response I get is "fair hit" or " you're right to push back on that". Fucking bullshit.

OpenAI Joins Anthropic in Call for International AI Watchdog

Taking advantage of Anthropic during the Pentagon fiasco must have taught him a lesson.

I finally had it!

The connection drops every 5 minutes. It's practically useless. And don't tell me Google isn't behind this.

Why does it have to be 25??

Anthropic and Perplexity impose no limits on the number of files you can add to Project sources. Only that the file size needs to be under xxx MB. Just what is the reason for 25 file limit?

"Temporary Thread" is no longer labeled

Temporary threads, usually those ones created using Comet browser's side pane, are marked for deletion after x days. They were shown in the History page with a label "temporary thread" and the deletion date just below the thread title. You can then toggle off the delete option if you wanted to keep it.

Well, that was what it used to be before Perplexity upgraded their UI. Now it's gone from the History and nowhere to be found anywhere. You can still click on "Remove Expiration" inside the thread, but you'd first need to know which thread is temporary.

First, I don't understand the need for automatic deletion, especially for those with paid subscription like me. Second, and this leads straight back to the first gripe, did they intentionally do this to make it even difficult to keep your threads? In that case, why not just remove all user choices?

What's up with the Boolean in the replies for the latest model?

- this is xyz: true

- and I'm lying: false

- the user knows I'm lying: bet your ass he does

Seems like OpenAI created plugins for everyone under the sun except Obsidian. Is there a reason for that?
