Hi everyone,

I've been using Perplexity for reading and analysing documents, and it used to work fine for me. However, recently, I've noticed that Perplexity is no longer able to read my documents properly.

Earlier, I could upload documents and ask questions about their contents, and it would analyse them and provide answers. Now, this functionality seems to have stopped working as expected.

I'm wondering:

- Has Perplexity changed its document-reading or file-upload functionality recently?

- Is this a temporary bug, or is there a new limitation on file types, file sizes, or document access?

- Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

- If this is related to a recent update or subscription change, is there any official explanation?

This feature was one of the main reasons I used Perplexity, so it would be disappointing if its document-analysis capabilities had been restricted.

Has anyone found a fix or received any clarification from Perplexity?

I have an investigation I am doing where I need search and Google is not worth a shit. I like what I get with the Perplexity Pro I signed up for last year, but I'm really worried about giving my credit card.

I see all the issues with payments and suspensions and stuff. I do NOT want to have to redo all the stuff on the little debit account I keep just for internet stuff. I don't have a good way to do single use VISA numbers at this time.

Has anyone else used a prepaid for this? Did Vanilla work? Has anyone encountered problems with this?

Has anyone else been affected by this? I start a new thread, first response is adequate and even suggests new questions, second prompt comes back as if it doesn't know what we're talking about.

"As I don't have access to previous conversations in this thread... / I couldn't check the previous attachments or context you mentioned but [new analysis of the subject without context] / [acts as if it's the first prompt without context] It seems you may be talking about X or Y, could you specify which?"

What does the toggle switch “thinking” do differently for the individual LLM?

It reminded me of the “turbo” button on those old PCs.

Move doesn't work (not allowed by the PUBLISHER error which is unacceptable, devious, and suspicious).
Setting default new apps location in SYSTEM>STORAGE doesn't work. (We couldn't move Perplexity The publisher of this app doesn't allow it to be moved to a different location.)
The error code is 0x80073d21, in case you need it.)
Regedit for adding values to force to accept alternate drives doesn't work.
Are you seriously telling me I have NO CHOICE in where the Perplexity Windows App installs and if I want to store the local AI that it offers, I have to add 36GB+ to my drive that is meant for OS only?!
I can't believe that this is an actual issue I am running into.
"This app must install to your system drive, but that's not the default. Go to Storage > Change where new content is saved, select your system drive, and retry the install. 0X80073D21"

I sincerely hope I am just doing something wrong and someone here can call me an idiot and correct me (do both parts, not just the first). But if not, they just designed their way out of a Pro subscription. I refuse to have ANY software that I do not fully control on my OS drive and in 2026, this shouldn't be an issue that even happens.

Advice? Guidance? Correction?
