This should be obvious. I want to know if I can make a pro search before trying to perform a pro search. Instead we have to perform the search and check afterwards if it was prepared by the model I wanted or was it a trash Sonar or whatever cheap model they force on us.

Also, https://www.perplexity.ai/rest/rate-limit/all does not tell me anything. Just displaying some random numbers that have nothing to do with real limits.

have a subscription but have zero intention of providing my phone number to just keep using my account. quality/speed of responses has seemed noticeably worse too.

any suggestions for replacement services besides the big guys? I did like the ability to switch between different models depending on query, before all this.

Like many, I got the Pro subscription via my provider almost a year ago. It was my first experience with AI, and I loved it.

In the meantime, I started to work with Claude, but still found lots of value in Perplexity. One was for work projects, and the other for research and quick chats.

Since then, Perplexity's quality has declined. Chats answered very generically, whatever the model I was using. Lately, they pushed me to replace the legacy app (through the App Store) with the computer app, which is slow and clunky.

Working every day with these tools has changed my expectations, or is Perplexity becoming objectively less efficient lately?

Not sure if the "help" tag is the right one because there is no help for predatory scummy behavior.

Are the new limits a bad joke? I can't even upload a 2.7 MB screenshot without requiring the 167$ max subscription? Like are they insane now?

First they trash away Pro for free, then they change Pro to be the new free tier with slappy ass limitations.

I'm so glad that I decided setting up a local agent so I can break free from these money milking companies. If you have the hardware, you totally should aswell.

Since yesterday, no matter which model I select for my prompt it always, without exception goed back to sonar 2. Even if I want to rewrite an answer with another model, it goes back to sonar. Is this an bug or enshitification on steroids?

Ich hatte mit Perplexity experimentiert.

Ich wolle eine 18-jährige Frau erzeugen, die Geldscheine in die Kamera hält. Perplexity antwortete: Das sei nicht erlaubt, da man mit 18 Jahren minderährig sei und ich keine Jugendlichen oder Minderjährigen Personen generieren dürfe.

Ich erklärte, dass in meinem Land (Schweiz) man mit 18 Jahren volljährig sei, aber Perplexity blieb dabei, es müsse sich an interne Standards halten und in vielen Ländern sei man erst mit 21 Jahren volljährig.

Also sagte ich: Erzeuge mir eine 21-jährige Frau. Perplexity antwortete: Das geht nicht, da eine 21-jährige Person jugendlich aussieht und das verboten sei.

Ich sagte dann: Mach eine 21-jährige, die vollständig erwachsen aussieht. Perplexity antwortete: Das ist nicht erlaubt, weil die Person jugendlich aussehen würde, auch wenn ich im Prompt schreibe, dass die Person erwachsen aussehen soll.

Es ist also in Perplexity nicht erlaubt, eine 21-jährige erwachsene Frau zu erzeugen, die komplett erwachsen aussieht. Weil laut Perplexity sieht eine 21-jährige Frau, die erwachsen aussieht, wie eine Jugendliche aus.

Also ganz ehrlich, das verstehe ich nicht. So ist das sehr mühsam. Auch 2 erwachsene Leute, die sich küssen, kann ich kaum generieren, ausser ich mache vorher was anderes, aber nach 5 Bildern ist plötzlich schluss, weil das zu explizit wäre. (Angezogene Erwachsene, die sich küssen).

Abgesehen davon bin ich begeistert von Perplexity und nutze sie jetzt für diverse Grafik-Erstellungen.

Wie seht ihr das. Wieso wird Perplexity so extrem zensiert?
