I finally completed Disgaea hour of darkness. Omg if you’re into story time let me tell you.
I never heard of this series before. But on the jrpg subreddit someone mentioned Disgaea about the prism ranger section being funny and I remember seeing that clip.
Much time later I’m at a bookstore looking around and I see the art book for sale. The art in the game got me good I really liked the character designs. I got the book and later when I went to check out a local game store they had Disgaea! What a coincidence man I was really happy to start playing.
Once I played the game it was cool it was alright, it reminded me a lot about Odin sphere in its presentation. The story and characters were okay. I think I had bigger expectations because of the art book. It’s hard to pick a best character for me personally because I actually liked the main cast, which is who I remained with. Well actually Thursday was my least favorite and mid-boss was my favorite if I had to pick. Flonne was very precious.
I didn’t really like the grinding that had to be done because it’s just repetitive. Sometimes the same map had the same enemies but stats would drastically change each time. I had to grind a lot for the Don Joaquin stage and the last fight. Star mage really helped me, I can’t think how far I would have got with out her.
The ending I got was Harly sacrificing himself for Flonne. I assume he turned into a prinnie because of the hints given at the end. Honestly that was a really wack ending given all the grinding I had to do for that last battle.
Conclusion: I liked the game! I give it a good 6/10. The game has a good charm and the art style does a lot for it. I’m aware of the of post game but man I need a break from that. Hearing Tsunami Bomb during Maderas fight was so good! I’m moving back home actually, so this was the last game I’ll be able to complete after being away 10 years. I’m developing nostalgic feelings for this game. I kind of cherish this game man, it’s hard to explain. Well I got Disgaea 2 ready but I don’t want to be burnt out, so I got wild arms up next on my list. Disgaea, this game rocks!
