Employer garnish my paycheck for benefit premiums after medical leave? [CO]

Colorado | Hourly | 0.5 FTE | Employee for almost 5 years

My employer (5,000+ employees) legally take my entire paycheck for benefit back-payments after medical leave. I worked 120 hours and was paid only about $160 total. One 40-hour paycheck was $0.09.

I pay for short-term and long-term disability, yet I am now financially and physically struggling. I feel trapped because leaving may require repaying tuition reimbursement, and I will not be 100% vested until October 2026.

My health is declining, and I do not know how I can continue another three months.

Not sure I can last much longer, but afraid to leave

I’ve been in the call center roll for 1.5 years and I’ve gained almost 40 lbs since then. I am miserable, and I can barely remember what callers have said because they ramble on so much, and I am becoming increasingly more depressed, anxious, and crying between calls.

I work for a hospital and there are always 30-50 callers in queue, it’s a rapid fire of their stress and my mental health is deteriorating. I am paid such a low wage that I qualify for Medicaid anyway.

If I reach fully vested, it’s only $120-150 per month after age 65 and adjusted for inflation. I have other skills, but my health is deteriorating so much that I need a few months to heal.

Should I quit tomorrow, or hold out another 6 months? The education benefits are not worth it, and despite being chronically ill, my health insurance doesn’t seem worth it. I can’t keep up with the call volume and expected metrics, I am becoming increasingly more and more depressed. I am in my 30s, and I’ve never been this unhealthy in my life.

When is it time for euthanasia? I’m so sad watching my baby deteriorate 😢

I’ve had my girl since she was 12 weeks old and she will be turning 19 years old this year. Over the last two years she’s deteriorated, it started with a ruptured cyst on her behind, and then migrated bacterial cyst that’s was removed. She had surgery for both, and healed pretty well, except she stopped bathing herself.

In the past year she’s lost a lot of weight, and a few months ago diagnosed with stage one kidney disease. She is always water hungry, I have 4 auto water fountains in the house for her, but she’s never satisfied. She will sit outside my shower, yeowling for shower water. I have an upstairs and downstairs auto cleaning litter box for her needs and I clean it regularly. Yes she is starting to urinate all over the house, in hidden corners.

She is down to 6 lbs and looks very frail. She has been urinating around my bed and now on my bed instead of her litter box. I tried giving her gabapentin for pain, but I had surgery last week and slipped up with her care.

I’m ordering kitty diapers now, I need time to cope with the idea of euthanasia. I think what frightens me the most is how she keeps darting, trying to run outside, as if she wants to hide someplace to pass-away.

She is also trying to get under the freezer, and try’s to dart under it while I’m closing it, almost like she has the urge to be injured.

At what point is it time to say goodbye? Thank you for any input and for reading this long post.

Exercise routine that doesn’t trigger spine pain

I have experienced decent relief from spine surgery and I am looking for some tips on how to stay motivated throughout a new exercise routine. I’ve gained around 35 lbs through two spine surgeries and I have been released from the spine surgeons care. What are some low impact exercises that I can do daily to lose some of the weight I’ve gained? Is walking really enough? Thanks everyone

Returning to work after major surgery and don’t think I can do it, but quitting means I don’t have health insurance

I just returned to my desk job after spine surgery and I cannot handle the pain. I’m in excruciating pain this first week - after feeling 60% better while on leave. It seems my job is not making any accommodations for the transition back to work. My arms are going numb while working and the stress is causing insane hot flashes. What is the general process for resigning due to a disability from a workplace accident and returning after surgery vs additional leave? The process all along has been tiresome and I am crying thinking about the unknowns from quitting. Thanks in advance
