What's a good price point for my game?

Hi, first time game dev here with an upcoming launch in a couple of weeks. Any thoughts around price just based on this trailer alone?

I asked around with other game devs I know and they suggested $10.99 USD with a 15% discount on launch week. I'm a little hesitant because similar games such as Teeworlds or Soldat is free on Steam, and ones more active such as Rounds is $6 USD. Those are older games though so I'm not sure at all, I imagine I could get away with a higher price point for the first year or 2 and then drop the price when it's considered "old"? How do others price games like this?

More screenshots and the older trailer on my steam page.

Made a game that's like Liero / Teeworlds, please take a look!

I've been working on my first game over the last 6 months, which is inspired by the 1998 game Liero. I plan on releasing it next month, so just getting into polishing + marketing mode now. Since I started sharing the trailer around, quite a few people have told me it reminds them a lot of Teeworlds too, so I'm trying to find fans of that game as well.

Some fun facts for interest.

  • The ninja rope mechanics are quite similar to Worms, not Liero. In Liero the ropes would always phase through terrain, while in Worms it pivots and fully wraps the edges of terrain. It was actually incredibly hard to get that to work in a real time game. Worms could pre-compute the terrain contours for a rope to pivot around in between turns as it was a turn-based game, but Liero never could because it gets computationally very expensive to do so (my reasonably specced gaming PC would slow to a crawl when I tried), so I spent probably a whole month working on this until it was working in a CPU performant way.
  • The expressions you see each character has was heavilly influenced by the eps of Peppa Pig I watch every morning with my 2yo. I knew nothing about how cartoon characters were drawn before I started working on this game. But since I started now, every cartoon or mural or plush toy I see, I end up thinking about how those expressions could be fitted into my game. It's been a lot of fun, I keep adding in more every few days as I think of them.

Anyways, if you liked the trailer and found it interesting, please consider wishlisting Giblings!

Giblings - real time version of Worms, if anyone is interested.

Hello, I hope this is related enough to Worms that I'm not breaking any rules, or being too spammy.

I'm almost finished making a game that I would describe as "Worms, but real time". I'm kind of trying to take all my favourite parts of Worms and all my favourite parts of another game called "Liero" from the 90s and combine them together into one game.

It's called Giblings and coming out next month. It has the ninja rope mechanics, the cutesy look and esoteric/silly weapons that you might expect in Worms, but combined with the real time violence + fast pace terrain destruction/creation of Liero.

I played both games obsessively in the 90s / early 00s so it felt fitting that my first game be taking inspiration from both of these childhood games.
