I’m wondering what the masses think what the survival game genre is? From my point of view, its grinding materials for shelter from the elements, food and drink. Needs ….at the root. Surviving wildlife and other dangers. Could have a story or a goal, or just existing in the environment.

On the flip side, I see more comments on the side of survival horror, or as it applies to any game where the purpose is to survive or outlast the enemy and say no to grinding or the hassle of eating and drinking.

To me that skirts the edge of any old action or adventure game though.

Just me rambling……..

Let me preface this by saying I usually mod Skyrim and make a hardcore survival-type setup, mainly just to exist in the world, mostly in the Chanterelle worldspaces. I come back to Skyrim ever so often and play various ways with added enemy difficulty and some nice weapons within reason. Call me weird, but I never paid much attention to the anniversary added stuff. I've always played how I've played, with my own list or a wabbajack list.

Over the weekend, at level 19, I finally acquired the Bow of Shadows. Wow, what an overpowered weapon!! I feel like I'm cheating or something LOL

Also, another first, I did the quest for the Spell Knight armor. It's crazy, living under a rock. 😄

I’ve played a modlist or two in the past that had a mod where when you killed an animal or any npc they would drop some kind of essence or energy type item.

I never knew what that was for.

I would like to learn about this mod and its function.

Any ideas? Does this ring a bell with anyone?

So about a year and half ago, I discovered Skyrim wabbajack modlists. Over time I had customized a handful of lists, they were stable and happy. I saved copies of them to an external hard drive. I went on to play other games and recently came back to Skyrim.

I moved my archived/saved list back to the same drive it was previously on, and all directories pointed to the same as they were before. But several lists will not open, with a SKSE version mismatch" message. Something like your version of Skyrim is newer than the version you are trying to play.

Is there anything I can do to make these playable? Or am I SOL?
