Whole Foods Cheshire, CT 3x Meat 1x Seafood

Great stuff tonight, about 5 pounds of Ground Beef, Chicken Thighs, Lamb Leg Steak, Lamb Loin, Grilled Shrimp, slab of Salmon. I’m seriously spending less for higher quality groceries than I’d get from anywhere else.

Games with dead speedruns

What are some examples of games where the speedrun is dead, meaning the game is optimized to the point where there is physically no further time to save like Dragster or SMB 1 will be soon or games where further optimization is unlikely because it requires impossible RNG that no sane person will go for like much of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out.

I know Super Punch Out seems to be mostly optimized because most of the fights are scripted and it’s been years since anyone has found new strats. What are some others?

Who Wants to be a Millionaire Jamie Ding Night 2 *spoilers*

Jamie and Ben won the million, there was never any doubt in my mind. The million dollar question was about the names of the turkeys pardoned by the president, 4 sets of names, guess which pair has never been among the pardoned. It was a total you know it or you don’t question, they asked Jimmy who was able to guess the correct answer based on bits he’s done on late night about this subject each year, and for insurance they called Jamie’s phone a friend who didn’t know. They went with Jimmy and won the million.

Whole Foods Meat x2 Cheshire, CT

Caught a bulk drop of Meat bags around 5 this afternoon. The positive when this occurs is that you usually get a lot, the negative is that it usually means a lot of the same which is perfectly fine by me. I’ll never say no to more burgers, and bacon is good too. I’m meh on the chicken sausage, but I’m sure I can do something with it. Great as always, fill up the freezer and save on groceries.

What is the biggest audience Al has played for?

Not counting special appearances like Coachella or attractions like fairs where Al is there but just part of the entertainment, what is the biggest audience Al has ever drawn where he specifically was the main attraction? I know actual numbers may not necessarily be available, but I’m assuming it has to have been something or will be something on the current tour, either the Boston or Chicago shows, but has he played anything bigger than that?

What’s your record for most bags in one day?

When I go to Whole Foods which is about a 15 minute drive, I try to make it worth it and today I managed to line up six bags, Seafood, Floral, Dry Grocery, Specialty, Refrigerated Groceries, & Bakery which is a new record for me. Someday I’d like to go the full gamut of all 10 different WF bags which seems like it would be a really difficult thing to do.

Someone explain to me the math behind people flipping these Nee Doh toys to me

I’m still seeing all over Social Media and eBay people trying to flip these Nee Doh toys and for the life of me I just can’t make the math math. If you are buying these at retail they’re generally about $6 + tax. On secondary markets if you’re really lucky you might get $15 but probably close to $12 or $13 these days. Once all is settled you’re pocketing maybe $7 in profit on each of these? Unless you have connections to buy these wholesale or in massive quantities, how is this even worth leaving the house for, much less lining up outside of stores and fighting other people to get? Is this just a case of people who are bad at math, people who are too late to a dying out fad, both?

Is Al using musical accompaniment backing tracks for some songs live now?

Maybe I’m crazy or maybe this has always been the case and I’ve never noticed, but is Al using backing tracks for some songs on stage now? I’m not saying this to denigrate the band in any way, but it really looked to me last night that on at least some songs the guys were accompanying a backing track, particularly for some of the keyboard parts, rather than playing the whole song live. The two songs where this looked most apparent to me were Everything You Know is Wrong and Dare to be Stupid. There’s certainly nothing wrong with this if it is the case, it’s been standard practice for most artists on stage for decades now, there’s nothing wrong with it.

Banana Ball Hartford Tickets

Since I’m already seeing nonsense on social media and StubHub about this, I thought it deserved a PSA. The Banana Ball games in Hartford in 2 weeks are going to be a very hot ticket. For the unfamiliar, think Harlem Globetrotters but baseball. All three games are sold out and I’m already seeing people trying to scalp tickets for way over face value. Do not buy tickets from third parties, it is a scam 10 times out of 10. The Banana Ball league only allow tickets to be transferred and sold through their own marketplace and only allow them to be sold for face value. Ticket holders do not even get access to their tickets until the day of the game. Do not buy tickets from anyone on StubHub or Facebook Marketplace or anywhere else besides the Banana Ball marketplace, you will lose your money and you will very likely not get tickets.

Did the search function on the App change for anyone else?

The TGTG app as of this week seems to have changed the search functionality for the worse. Previously I used to be able to go to browse, set a distance parameter, and then it would give me a list of every bag available within that distance. As of this week though Browse only lists what is currently available within an arbitrary distance that the App doesn’t tell you. Instead you have to go to Discover and it has everything listed in various categories it wants you to browse which is much less efficient. Is there any way to revert back to the old listing?

I know a lot of Celebs who involve themselves in charity events especially stuff like Make-A-Wish do so and ask for it not to be publicized, but I assume over the last 40+ years Al has probably been an occasional if not semi-frequent request for Make-A-Wish or other similar sorts of charitable causes. Are there any stories or news articles out there of Al being involved with these groups?
