Hello Beautiful Souls! I hope all of you are doing well. I have been dabbling in photography to capture the birds I see. Going through my pictures I realized that the Cardinal has been making himself known the past few weeks. This is not an uncommon bird by any means, but it is not common for them to sit and pose while you awkwardly take pictures.

One big thing that the Cardinal represents is the Ancestors. It is common the southern United States for someone to connect seeing a Cardinal after a loved ones death, as that loved one coming to visit you. I have been focusing a lot on ancestor work and veneration along side my very folk magic based practice.

The Ancestors are letting you know that they are here and watching over you. You are not alone. They are on your side and the more that you honor and connect with them the stronger that relationship is.

Suvi, Back to the Roots

This song appeared in the most divine way in my life...literally the dominoes that lined up showed me how connected everything is and how if we just listen we will see the way.

Listening to the song the first time I felt connected to it and honestly its a banger. However when I found the lyrics and really listened to Suvis message the message really hit me.

Life has been life and I needed the reminder to reconnect with the Earth. Reconnect with my beliefs and get back to the roots. As confirmation while listening to the song outside as I do, the Mockingbird flew into the tree next to me and began to sing. Not his usual alarm sounds when he wants others to leave but just a rotation of his best songs that he has picked up.

Mockingbirds are a reminder to be your true self, even when its hard. Learn and grow through everything good and not so good. How you perceive the world is your choice.

My first ever walk to talk to others, specifically strangers, about the symbolism of the birds happened recently. I talked about the symbolism of birds and my co host talked about plants their uses and folklore.

I was so nervous. I live in very Christian heavy area and as someone who grew up in the church I know first hand how judgemental some people can be. As we began our walk my co host talked about some of the plants. Birds are flying over and so close, Cardinals are following me everywhere, and then the Vultures showed up. I knew I was where I needed to be. As the guests began to ask questions I realized that I just had to be myself. One guest told me bird folklore that I had never heard before. Another asked why the Vulture was my favorite and my spark bird.

I was able to share both my bird knowledge of their symbolism but also their behaviors and how to look for them. I learned more about plants around me from Cheyenne. We shared stories of the birds and the plants in our lives and how they are truly interconnected.

It is hard to belive sometimes that this is my life. I am forever grateful to all of you other birds and nature lovers for joining me on this journey.

I have begun a routine of visiting a park every Thursday before going to work. I come to watch the birds, but on this occasion I forgot my binoculars, lost my pencil so I couldnt draw, and it is raining.

This normally would have set the tone of my day and I would just be grumpy the rest of the day. As I contemplated if I would let this ruin the rest of my day, I realized that I didn't need a perfect day to enjoy birds or nature.

Sure I won't see as many birds as I normally do, but I am present in the moment. Then the birds began to sing. I knew that spirit was trying to tell me what I already knew. Sometimes things do go as planned but that is OK. Find the joy and peace by being fully present in the moment.
