Best betta food?

Hi everyone

I’ve been feeding my betta Hikari Betta Bio-Gold twice a day since I had him (2 pellets in the morning, 3 in the evening). I’ve recently read that it’s not great as it’s full of fillers. I just want something as healthy as possible for him and to help enhance his colours (he’s a red/purple/blue veiltail).

I’ve tried looking at ingredients and found these to be better - has anyone tried these? I want to get a couple of choices to go along with the frozen brine shrimp I’ve bought.

Also I know fluval have the betta version but I can’t buy that in the uk.

TIA.

Tank stand help

Hi everyone

I’ve currently got a 22L cube on a shelf stand (risky I know) but wanted to also get a 30/40L shallow tank. I wanted a stand that would hold both side by side obviously without any chance of it collapsing.

Ideally I want it to be at least H60 x D40, width I’m not too fussed on at the moment as I can buy my new tank to accommodate the stand.

I’m not the DIY kind, so is there any stand recommendations anyone can make? Preferably from Amazon, I’m in the UK and all the nice units I’ve seen only ship to the US🥲

TIA.

Rate my tank?

Hi everyone

Here’s my tank! I’m a newbie to fishkeeping and am struggling to make a nice home for my fish.

For reference I currently have a male veiltail betta, 7 beckford pencilfish, 8 amano shrimp and 3 crystal red shrimp.

I want to improve the aquascape so it’s more comfortable for my betta, like better resting spots and shaded planting, but I still want it to work for my pencilfish and shrimp.

Currently all my fish swim around all areas of the tank together, and I seem to have found a fighter fish that has no fight in him🫶🏽 so the changes I wanna make are purely for their comfort. Any layout or plant suggestions please?

TIA.

Injury or natural colouration?

Hi everyone

Noticed today my betta has a new pink/red patch on his face. I’ve only had him a short while but he seems to be perfectly active and responsive to me, and he’s eating well.

I’m wondering if the poor boy has hurt himself and lost some scales, or if this is just his natural colour coming through (although he was sold as a “Snow White fighter” he seems to have red marbling on his anal fin)?

If this is an injury, how could this have happened? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All water parameters are normal and have been during my daily testing, and to my knowledge I’ve had no spikes of any kind.

TIA.

Help! Is he happy or overstimulated?

Hi everyone.

This is my beautiful boy Bubble, I’ve had him for just over 3 weeks.

I’ve noticed he always seem to be quite energetic when I go towards the tank (I’ve tried to record him being like this).

He does it in the mornings too when I wake up, and even sometimes when I move around in bed he’ll do it for a short while and I see him stop when he realises I’m not getting up (the tank is in my room and he sleeps on the glass side closest to my bed so we can pretty much always see each other).

Is anyone else’s betta the same? I just want to know is he happy or is he overstimulated? Does he not like me and is this him flaring at me?

TIA.

Betta tank setup

Hi everyone.

I’ve setup 2 tanks as a first time fish owner and am wondering what I can do to improve. I’ve only used lived plants, and am currently waiting for some frogbit to be delivered at my LFS.

Any ideas on what I could do please?

TIA.

Betta community tank?

Hi everyone.

I have a male veiltail, 3 rescue neon tetras, 3 amano shrimp and 3 crystal red shrimp in a 54L (60x30x30). I’d also like to add 6 pygmy corys and 6 green neon tetras (I’ve seen a lot of posts of bettas getting along lovely with corys and it seems my betta has been getting along with all of his tankmates so I’d like for him to continue to have some)

I know for the neons to feel safe I would need at least 3 more, however due to the adult size of the neons (4cm), I’m hesitant to get another 3 knowing I will also get the corys (3cm), I’m scared of overstocking.

I guess I have a few questions:
• If I were to get the 6 corys, would it be better to rehome the 3 neons?
• If I rehomed the 3 neons, could I get 6 green neons, or will this overstock my tank?

Apologies if these are daft questions, I’m a first time fish owner and would appreciate all of the help I can get.

TIA.

Snow White / Platinum Betta

Hi everyone.

So I bought this lil guy as I instantly fell in love with his beautiful glow.

He was sold as a Snow White fighter, but he has 6 red patches on his caudal fin (what I’ve assumed is marbling?). He has a very light pink sheen to him when he swims under the tank light.

Is he likely to change colour?

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any advice would be helpful.

TIA.
