Is he a new character made for the live action? Im only on ep 3 and im assuming he replaced ryuji from the anime? (who is originally a mechanic) is he a mix of toshiyuki and the original ryuji??

I dont know where to ask this, but my mandarin teacher is leaving to go back to china and i wanna get her a gift but idk what.
Last year for my previous teacher i got her a bottle (for hot water) but i dont want to repeat the gift, so im asking what would be a practical gift for a chinese woman. I dont wanna get her something that just sits there and looks good, i wanna get her something that she can use.

   Im wondering because it gave me a choice between gold and i think yellow??
4. Is chronologically okay?
   I am starting with 3 then gonna play 1,2,4,5
