Dreo fan with Alexa question

About to buy a Dreo smart fan for elderly relative with impaired vision so will be relying on Alexa. Does anyone know which specific commands can be used with the fan? I think the following will work but interested to know if there are any others (e.g. start/stop oscaillation):

Fan start

Fan stop

Fan speed increase/decrease

Set fan to x%

Looking at these two:

DREO Smart Table Fan for Bedroom, 28dB Silent Air Circulator Fan

or

DREO 20dB Smart Desk Fan

Thanks for any advice

What is it with cafe pricing?

Just been to Wood Street Bakery. Been before, nice coffee, nice people but even with cost of living going mad what's got into the pricing?

A very average (in size and quality) almond croissant was over £6 and they were selling quite small pastrami foccacia sandwiches for £12.30.

Coffee was good (and under £4) but those prices are really taking the p***, even considering how difficult the hospitality business is.

Recommendations for air conditioner and installer

Looking for recommendations for reliable installer to supply and/or fit a permanent air conditioning unit. Not a portable unit, or a fan, but something like you would get in a hotel room - wall mounted.

Realise it's not the ideal time to be buying at the moment!

Thanks for any suggestions.

Halifax Ultimate Reward - Impossible to open account

Has anyone managed to open a Halifax Ultimate Reward account and would be willing to describe what arcane process is needed to make this happen ?

We‘ve tried online support, phone support and going into a branch twice and it just doesn’t work. Staff have no idea. We’ve gone through the daft process of having to open sole accounts first (which we don’t need otherwise) and followed all instructions including having the 2 phones next to each other in the same location but it just either hangs or says ‘something went wrong’.

Was hopeful this morning as there was an app update but sadly it’s not helped.

Bug in focus peaking/AF lock feature request

Noticed a bug - when I change the focus peaking colour (e.g. from red to green), it works until a shot it taken then reverts back to whichever the previously set colour was.

Feature request - I have the vertical swipe set to focusing which locks the focus (understandably).

When I want to revert back to autofocus, it's really difficult to see the AE/AF lock symbols. Could these be made more prominent (maybe a option for a darker font?) or perhaps have a button to revert to AF once the shot is taken?

Really like the app and looking forward to testing it with the grip when it arrives.

I'd like to check my understanding of working out the maximum amount someone can pay into a personal pension (SIPP), with regard to bonus sacrifice.

For the purposes of this, I want to ignore the £60k Annual Allowance (which includes all pension contributions, i.e employee and employer) because in my example there is a significant amount of prior year contributions to carry forward.

The scenario is that an employer allows an annual bonus to be sacrificed directly into the employer's pension plan.

  1. The employee's P60 earnings figure has already had the bonus and any employee pension contributions deducted because neither were paid as 'salary'.

  2. The maximum remaining gross contributions to a SIPP can therefore be the whole of the P60 amount (again, ignoring the annual allowance if sufficient carry-forward amounts exist).

  3. Specifically, the amount of the bonus does not need to be deducted from the P60 amount as it's effectively already been removed to calcuate the P60 earnings.

Is this correct? I've found a few sources which seem to contradict each other.

Thank you.

I am planning to retire shortly and have decided to keep 3 years of regular expenses income in a gilt ladder while the rest of my investments are in S&S ISAs and a SIPP.

I have an advisor who I pay for 2 hours advice each year which works for me. She has suggested the gilt ladder and introduced me to a company called Canaccord who charge 0.3% to manage the ladder.

Some basic research has told me buying and holding 3 low-coupon gilts to maturity using Interactive Investor is really not that difficult. I already manage my SIPP funds in the same platform.

Is there any other reason to pay an advisor for this?

Thank you.
