Apple Pay started working after back glass replacement !

Ever since my back glass shattered my Apple Pay started acting up, some terminals would not recognize it at all, some would say multiple cards and sometimes it would work. Took it to Apple and told them of the problem, they said NFC repair plus back glass will be over $300, I wasn’t willing to put that much into it so I put tape on the glass and kept using it. However, not having working Apple Pay was such a deal breaker I thought of upgrading, but then a last ditch effort came to my mind. What if the NFC only had to do with broken glass and maybe it would get fixed by replacing the glass ? Took this to a local reputed repair shop, the guy replaced glass for $120(I was kind of surprised they had the parts still). I asked him if anything else was wrong inside, he said it was all okay. And now Apple Pay works again !! Wireless charging works as before and I am back to rocking this phone with 77% battery. I used an IPhone 15 for a few days while this was being repaired and OMG what a relief it is to come back !

If I take it to Apple now for a battery replacement will they refuse saying it has been serviced elsewhere ?

H1B + H4 Extension + H4 EAD

September 1st - Filed together with H1B Premium processing, all 3 things were expiring on September 30th

September 18th - Got email from attorneys that they got approval from USCIS
Few days later September 20 something the H4 status showed approved on the USCIS website.
Wife contacted Premium processing service center about EAD but didn’t hear back.

September 30th - EAD changed to card produced

Glad to see that someone at USCIS is considerate enough to avoid employment loss for applicants.

Blockfest at 770 Jackson today

Realized something was being set up in Monroe plaza in the morning, took me a while to figure out really what was happening. How does one keep a tab on events like such ?

How do parents do the NYC commute ?

Talking to an older gentleman in the office who lives near East Brunswick and he told me he leaves home at 7 to be in the office around 8:30. Similar stories are abound, one guy with a newborn lives in Edison and starts even earlier to beat the traffic. A lady in our office had an apartment in Jersey City for the weekdays and she would go home to Princeton only for the weekends to see husband and kids. 1.5hrs one way commute really seems like the norm for a good suburb and wasting 3hrs every day seems so absurd.

I have 2 kids and my commute is about 45mins from Hoboken. We are feeling cramped but the commute part is what we dread the most. Also don’t want to waste time away from kids specially when they are young. Even if you have a bigger place in the burbs seems like the weekdays one would really have no time to relax at home, that would be only weekends.

How is everyone doing this ?

The app you asked for !

A few weeks ago I asked this community if they would like to see an app which shows them events happening near them. With the positive reaction, I went ahead and released my app EventsZen on the apple app store.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/eventszen/id6780186149

It shows you events happening in the neighborhood on a map with easy to use filters for categories and time horizons. You can share or save events and set your custom filters about what you would like to see on the app. I have added events from Hoboken and Jersey City cultural affairs pages for now on the backend. Please check it out and feel free to give me any feedback or if you would like to see something more on the map.

Would you want an app like this ?

For the past few weeks I noticed that events would happen around us and the information about such events are so scattered that sometimes things happen only a few blocks away and you have no idea. The leading events app EventBrite doesn’t seem to cater to free events or at least I don’t find it user friendly enough to find something there.

So I have been putting together this app which basically tells you free (or paid) events happening near you in a nice UI with filters for categories and timeframes.

Would you find this useful? And is there anything more you would like to see or any suggestions about the existing interface?

This has been with me for barely two weeks and I noticed these spots appearing on one of the only 4 leaves it has. I just got it from store, repotted in a bigger pot. Pot has drainage and I have watered it only once in this 2 weeks I have had it for. Plant is kept away from the windows in ambient light.
Please I don’t want to lose this baby !
Scored at Trader Joe’s for $12.99 which I thought was a steal
