I’m 33F and have been close friends with another woman online for about 1.5 years (we're both lesbians). We game and talk regularly and have become pretty close. We'd both love to finally meet in person.

She is in a long-term relationship, which I respect, and I'm single. She has invited me to visit and has dates that work for her. She said she'd really love for me to fly out there, but gave me a heads-up that her girlfriend is “extremely jealous” and would probably see me as “a bit of a threat.” Her gf wants me to stay in a hotel because she doesn't know me, which I'm totally fine with and understand. There's also a language barrier since her gf doesn't speak English.

My friend has been very reassuring and repeatedly said she genuinely wants me to come. She also said she doesn't want me to feel uncomfortable or like I'm putting myself in an awkward situation.

I'm trying to figure out whether visiting is a good idea. Would you go in this situation?
