Nursing admissions

hi y’all! I’m another stressed high school student who applied to the bachelors of nursing at ULeth. My overall average is an 88.2%; I applied Sept 15 and my admissions portal still just says under review. Do I have hope to get accepted or am I going to be waitlisted/rejected? I got accepted to LPN at Lethbridge Polytechnic and I have until the 29th to accept or deny my offer there and pay the $500 deposit. I’m working, but I don’t know if I have enough disposable money to pay the deposit and then withdraw from LPN for the RN program at ULeth; essentially losing that $500. I’ve applied across AB (exception MRU) and two schools in Nova Scotia but staying local would be nice!

I’m trying to temper my expectations haha and also see where I can save some money lol. Thanks in advance :)

If you’re a young adult…

I’m a young woman in Alberta. For a year and a half, there was a lump in my breast. I ignored it because I was too young for it to be anything. A dark bruising sort of spot emerged over it after six months, and it slowly got tender & a bit painful progressively.

I continued to ignore it because I was too young for it to be anything.

It got really painful and when I called 811, I was demonstrating signs of an infection.

It turned out to be something - went to ER, and I waited there for six hours but it was something.

so, this is your sign to get it checked out, no matter of your age. ❤️

Online school (during school year)

Hey! Would it be an okay idea for me to do some of my classes online in conjunction with in person learning next year? I go to a school that is on a quarter system so it’s basically 2.5 months of two classes (each class is like 3.5hrs). Anyway, I was thinking about doing one of the classes per quarter online through my school’s online school?
I’m only doing three quarters of school & graduating early.
quarter 1: math 30-1 and physics 30 — how hard would it be to take physics 30 online?
quarter 2: social 30-1 and religion 30 — I feel like it would be very feasible to take religion online.

My reason for doing so is I have a lot of court related meetings that are coming up as well as a fair few appointments to attend weekly and I feel like it’s easier to do online to work around this.

Bachelors of social work

Hey yall! I am a grade 12 student in the fall who is applying to the BSW program at MRU (direct entry).
Here are my classes:
Bio 30- 81
Chem 20 - 83
Social 20-1 - 95
English 20-1 - 96
Math 20-1 - 85
Physics 20 - 86
taking indigenous studies 30 over the summer - projected to end between 93-96

how likely am I to get accepted to the BSW program? I have been reading the posts here and it seems like you need a 4.0 and I know I don’t, but im curious. I will still apply (gotta shoot my shot haha), but I would like to be optimistic and reasonable going into these applications.

Thanks :)

should I retake bio 30

So! I am applying to:
ULeth addictions counselling/psych 5yr degree
UCalgary BSW direct entry (second choice community rehab)
MRU BSW direct entry
MRU bachelor of child studies

However, I emailed MRU admissions yesterday and they said they take any thirty level courses I’ve done for early admissions. Im doing indigenous studies 30 right now and I am confident that I can end with a grade in the mid 90s. However the problem is bio 30 which I did in grade 11 and I got an 81. Should I retake bio 30?

thanks :)

Direct Entry Social Work AB

hey y’all! I am a grade 11 student who is applying to the two direct entry social work programs in AB (UCalg and MRU).

My current grades:
English 20-1: 96%
Math 20-1: 85%
Biology 30: 81%
Physics 20: 86%
Chem 20: 83%
Social 20-1: 95%
Drama 20: 93%

Has anyone who either has been accepted to either of the SW programs or who knows about the direct entry SW programs in AB tell me more about this? If you were accepted, what was your averages / grades like?
I’m reallyyy hoping to be accepted to MRU but at this point I will be grateful for either haha! Doing early admission, fyi :)

Survivors Rally against Andy Davies

Hi! I am organizing a rally for victims of Andy Davies (and really any victim of SA or gender based violence) because this news has affected so many survivors and victims.

This rally will take place outside the Lethbridge courthouse on June 20th from 1-3PM. Please bring signs (protest style) and friends — we are hoping for a great turnout.

Thank you :)

City of Lethbridge:

Hey City of Lethbridge:

I am completely and utterly baffled as to why you thought it would be appropriate to remove the public advocacy focused art in and around the Galt Gardens area. Furthermore, removing the posters on the light posts is completely ridiculous considering light posts are a public place to tape flyers, posters, etc. Do you plan to remove all flyers and posters from light posts around Lethbridge?

There are so many other places where City resources could be allocated. This was an immense waste of City resources and money (which is taxpayer money, might I remind you)?

This is an incredibly interesting look for the City of Lethbridge to adopt; removing art and messages of support left by victims, survivors and allies is a strange decision to make. As publicly elected representatives, you need to do better.

We are not giving up.
