EU IMG post FY2 - can I get an ST training post in Ireland ?

EU IMG- from Malta Foundation Programme , FY2 completed.

Would I be able to get an ST post ? If not, an FY post ?

What are training opportunities like in Ireland ? Which specialities are more / less competitive?

Minor UK experience (1 elective in med school) but an MSc from a UK University (Edinburgh) if that counts for anything.

IELTS score 9. That’s about everything I’ve got.

Thank you all in advance 🙏

31M Europe, come along with me !

First time I’m doing this so I hope I get it right. Travelled for the last 7 years which gave me different perspectives from the small village I was born in. I’m a doctor by profession and love experiencing new things , meeting genuine people and tasting all the flavours. I play guitar and sing and love to jam with musical people. I also love sports, you name it and I’ll play it.

I’m in Malta (my home country) right now but I’m flexible to go anywhere, and will probably get itchy feet to move again soon.

I want to meet someone on here with similar mindset to keep enjoying life together. Thanks everyone!

Does Malta’s strong debt to GDP ratio mask economic vulnerabilities ?

Are hard times a comin ? For Maltese residents currently basking in good economic conditions. Also, are these times of great economic growth actually filtering down into the pockets of a) employees b) small business owners ?

Healthcare workers in Malta not speaking Maltese (and very little English)

Having been in the scene for a while locally, I've noticed that the nurse/carer (and sometimes even doctor) demographic has shifted to Indian, Nepalese and other TCN. No problem with this inherently other than many of them do not speak any Maltese, and moreover speak very minimal broken English.

From private hospitals to care homes, it seems the nurse/carer demographic is practically 100% like this, and with no Maltese/EU or any English speaking professional apparently available, this has been accepted as a new normal.

I can't help but think how damaging this is, not only in acute care settings like ED where communication with patients and other staff is important, but even care homes. Just think of the elderly population, already frail and vulnerable to getting more and more confused and demented. They are moved out of their homes due to frailty and end up in an institution where the people who interact with them day in day out don't understand them when they speak, and speak a language they don't understand. That must be another nail in the proverbial coffin.

Has anyone had similar experiences ? Is this also an issue in other EU countries? What should be done?

Is property in Malta a bubble ?

Is it right to assume the rare beautiful properties retain their price because it is based real value, whilst the grand majority of the recent (last 15 years) poor quality builds will crash in price ?

Or is Malta a safe haven due to the economy and the scarcity of land ?

How can a minister who explained her acts of corruption by saying “everybody pigs out” (when in gov) be awarded a ministry again ? Any theories ?

There must be a web of power beneath a woman who doesn’t talk like the sharpest politician around but still manages to get away with gross misconduct.

Rosianne has defied all norms of ethics.

How long before she is suspended again ?

PN were just as corrupt, greedy and incompetent as PL (and possibly worse) in government. We need a better alternative.

This is the party that bred kings of corruption like Austin Gatt & Eddie Fenech Adami who made himself President after being Prime Minister. The party that brought iGambling into the country and started the construction wave that ultimately destroyed the countries natural heritage.

Joseph Muscat copied the PN playbook and refined it to the modern age, and that is still the same one used by PL today. Maybe that’s why they hate him so much.

The inner core of the party are despicable, who would not bat an eyelid to ruin lives if they stood in the way of their goals. This can be seen in senior politics and even junior wings in JC and UM.

We need a better alternative. Momentum need to stop playing arrogant, and join ADPD (which were previously two parties btw) and try to settle differences to offer a viable, electable alternative to the two big parties.

If PN are elected in government in 5 years time (or 4), nothing will change except the colours and names of the wolves in sheep’s clothing that have raped this country to death.

Malta needs better. Malta deserves better.
