chi.streetsblog.orgSimplified, annotated copy of FOIAed "30-day review" emails.
I've filtered out repetitive, threaded email replies and calendar responses to winnow down last week's public records dump to a more manageable 401 pages.
I've also added some annotations to bookmark key events in the emails – including a who's-who of who actually attended meetings with Mike Brohel, based on the thank-you emails he sends to distribute his final report in April 2025.
One thing I haven't dug into yet is taking a close look at who's cc'ed – and who is not – on some of Brohel's messages. In certain circumstances, he's eager to throw his colleagues under the bus; in others, it looks like he's only including some people in the loop while he excludes others.
Sound off in the comments and let me know if you find anything else interesting!
What happened to Louisa, happens far too often like this
Yesterday I'm coming over the N Washington St bridge with a child trailer behind me, in the bike lane, and a bus tries to go around another bus trying to get in the left lane and unexpectedly comes into the bike lane. This is closer than it looks. I was already at its rear bumper and slammed my brakes. Had I been a little further forward, myself and the child trailer behind me would have been left no room. The driver is too focused on their left mirrors to get around the blocking vehicles impatiently, instead of looking closely to their right. I have a very bright flashing light, also. This is why paint is not enough. We need physical barriers.
