Partner pressure

My husband doesn’t fully understand attachment parenting or why I’m doing it. He’s given me pushback on EBF, co sleeping and nursing to sleep, etc. Our daughter was barely a week old, I couldn’t sit down comfortably (4th degree tear) and he was already trying to go out to eat just the two of us. I also had bad PPA for the first few months, and honestly still don’t like leaving her. I’m full force on attachment parenting, I’m beyond happy doing it, I’m happiest when I’m with her and don’t feel like I’ve ever needed a “break” from her.

He’s been pushing for date nights and we’ve done a few to make him happy. Now, he’s talking about doing trips without her. I’m not at alllllllll comfortable with that. He said he’d like a day with no responsibilities and I can honestly say I don’t get it, I don’t feel the same way. We’re in it right now, and I’m happy to be in it. I’ve fully embraced motherhood for all its beauty and sacrifice. I feel like he doesn’t feel the same way and it’s devastating. He says he loves being a dad, but he’s always reminiscing on our pre-baby life. He thinks I’m crazy for how I mother and in all fairness, becoming a mom changed me tremendously. I am not at all the same person I was.

I love this phase, I want to talk about going on trips with her and the things we can do as a family. While he has so many great qualities, I feel like my husband has been the hardest part of parenting. Has anyone else experienced this?

Dreams

I keep having dreams about Hozier. It’s weird, I enjoy his music quite a bit and I do find him to be very attractive but I’ve never had a musician/actor/celebrity slip into my subconscious like this before.

Any anyone else experienced this?

Last night I dreamt that he did a pop up show on the beach by where I lived. He was doing a moody cover of Chocolate by the 1975. I kept bringing him crystals and he asked me why I was following him and I told him if anything he was following me, doing a show in front of my house.

That was it. But this is like the fifth dream I’ve had about Hozier in the past year. Feels like I’m under a spell.

Unsupportive Partner

My husband has been against co sleeping since the very beginning. Even though he loves waking up all together, I think he’s just very hung up on the “supposed to”s. Like what you’re “supposed to do” in parenting, and he won’t acknowledge there’s other, also valid, ways of doing things.

We tried to get our baby to sleep in the bassinet/crib but it just wasn’t working for her. I was also doing the nights 100% on my own from the time she was about 2 months, and by 4 month she was up every two hours. I became extremely, scary-level sleep deprived and he gave in. As soon as we started this she started sleeping through the night.

She’s 9 months old now and is still co-sleeping at night and naps in our bed too. She naps better when I lay with her to start her nap, as we feed to sleep. I am extremely pleased with how she is doing and how I am mothering her in a very responsive way. I practice attachment-style parenting and I see it paying off in so many ways (her ability to connect with others, her intelligence, her confidence, her development, her happiness, etc). We’re in a big teething phase (4 are coming in at once), so she often has trouble staying asleep and sometimes I’ll have to stay with her for a full nap (30-60mins).

My husband thinks I’m doing everything wrong when it comes to sleep. He is constantly comparing her to other babies and insisting we sleep train. He wants me to have more time to give him and to clean the house. Ultimately, my main focus will always be my daughter and doing what’s best for her. Has anyone else dealt with an unsupportive partner?

Central/South NJ witchy moms

30yo mom. Dabbling in Wicca since I’m like 10 years old. I’d love to find other moms who are also into the craft.
