Qrevo Curvx versus Ultra 2 (Costco)

How does the Qrevo Curvx compare to the new Ultra 2 at Costco? I bought the Curvx on Prime day but considering going the Costco route due to better return policy. House is 2 stories and a mix of carpet and LVP. Overall happy with the Curvx (it’s misses a bunch of stuff when vacuuming but house is cleaner than before). Thanks all!!

Help! Handyman wants to layer rockwool and fibreglass

I am insulating my cantilever as we’ve had a lot of cold air and noise coming through it. We removed the soffit and found it was soffit and then subfloor. Handyman is currently installing vapor barrier and we asked him to put safe and sound rockwool in the cavity. He came back with Kraft-faced fibre glass and says he is going to put fibre glass first and then the rockwool safe and sound. To me that doesn’t sound right but he says code requires minimum r-21 and safe and sound is unrated. Is mixing insulation like this ok? He’s assured me it won’t be compressed as he will cut to size.

My current double pane vinly windows (3 years old) have 3/4” OA. They are builder grade with each pane 3/32 and do nothing for sound. Glass company is proposing replacing both panes with 1/4” laminated glass. One sliding window is quite large ie 70” x 70 and the others are picture windows and smaller at 45x45.

The cost difference between 1 laminated pane and one regular pane is minimal. I got 3 quotes and each said the same. They also said folks still complain about noise when they install the 1 lami 1 regular but not when they do both lami.

I asked them if the vinyl frame can handle the weight and if I’ll be able to operate the slider, and they are like “it will be fine”. However the warranty is only 1 year (versus the original lifetime warranty) and is only for the igu.

Do you guys think the slider can handle the weight?

The noise we are trying to block is noise of cars accelerating uphill. Right now it’s 55-65 db in the house when a car goes uphill. The house has walls of windows which amplifies it.

I would have preferred secondary glazing but the window frame doesn’t support.
