I don't get out much. Where should I eat out solo this evening?

Wife and kids are out of town and I have a very rare night alone.

Was going to try for Anjin but they are closed on Wednesdays. I eat everything and if the food and vibe is good would enjoy counter service just as much as a fancy sit-down, maybe more.

Help me make sense of the Mangione plea

He has pled to stalking in federal court, part of the factual basis of which is that he killed the healthcare CEO. Now his lawyers are going to argue that double jeopardy prevents him from being prosecuted for murder in state court.

I'm not a DJ expert nor an expert on the interplay between the state and federal systems. But my sense, going off vibes, is that this is a weak legal argument that the state court isn't going to let fly. They will find a way to fuck him even if the law is on his side. He's put his fate in the hands of judges and the judicial system, rather than in a jury.

And if the DJ motion fails, now he has admitted to the killing.

Seems like his legal team is getting cute instead of doing the hard work of multiple jury trials. Surely his defense fund is flush with cash for such an effort.

I'm miffed here. What am I missing?

Things to do on Lake Jacomo

Hello Kansas City,

We have a pontoon rental for a day coming up on lake Jacomo and I was just wondering if folks have any insights or recommendations as to how we spend our time. I know it's a no wake lake so we can't go tubing. But it doesn't look like there are any bars or restaurants that we can just pull up to. I've never been, so any thoughts, tips, or advice, would be appreciated.

Seeking advice on how to balance time with two kids with an age gap

Hey all! I (39M) am the parent to a 9 year old daughter and baby (14 month old) son. My wife (39F) currently stays at home while I am at work.

The baby was a surprise to everyone, but has been wonderful. His big sister adores him. Wife has enjoyed being able to be home with him where she had to work when we had our daughter almost 10 years ago.

Daughter and I are close. We have always spent a lot of 1 on 1 time together, and she is accustomed to my time and attention. And every day when I'm home from work, she wants to play - almost always something wild and rough, whether in the pool, on the trampoline, or just wrestling in the house.

That said, I have been feeling like I am not spending enough time with the baby, who also adores me. He runs with open arms and a big smile on his face whenever I come home after work.

I am wondering if others have thoughts on how to balance time between these two wonderful humans. The 9 y/o doesn't want to play baby games with me and her brother, she wants to roughhouse. But that, of course, excludes her brother.

Interested in how others have handled this. I like the idea of some structure, for example we could try a 3 day rotation where day 1 is daughter play, day 2 is son play, and day 3 is both. But I'm in uncharted waters here and wanting other perspectives.

Puerto Costa Maya recommendations? Been a while since the last post with much thorough discussion

We are sailing in September as a family. Plenty of sea days on our itinerary so we don't want to remain on the ship, but nor do I want to spend a couple of hours of my port day in a vehicle travelling to see ruins.

What do we like as far as beach clubs or other nearby activities? Particular interested in good food and drink deals as well as decent snorkeling right off the beach.

I've seen about golf cart rentals. Let's say we rent one - what then? Take it to a beach club?

We were two Americans in terminal 2E when this man somehow intuited our predicament and helped fast track us through multiple checkpoints to our flight in Gates L and give us a chance to make our connection, which we did after a mad dash through the airport.

He will probably never see this but I have no other way to express my appreciation for getting me home to my family.

Thank you kind stranger!!!

EDIT: Gates L, not terminal L, there is no terminal L, thank you to the commenter who pointed that out.

And To clarify, this was a worker, but I don't know who he worked for. He was dressed sharp in dark pants and a dark jacket as his uniform.

We are there Americans visiting soon for a day trip and looking for recommendations that might not show up in a Google search. We are particularly interested in your local food and drink! Any tips would be appreciated. Bonus points if you can tell us where to find authentic horsemeat sauerbraten
