Unique Winter World Mechanics

Was reading Shadow Slave and just got to the fight against the Winter Beast and thought of a really cool monster idea because of a stray thought that crossed my mind. “Huh, where does the heat energy go to if the Winter Beast lowers the temp that much?”

It would make for a really cool world building mechanic where a fantasy world utterly doom itself to an eternal winter due to a war. Said winter decimates 90% of the population and cause humanity to develop a frostpunklike civilization where its fueled by the mages left after the war.

However, the remnants of one of the empires that started the world ending war wasn’t satisfied with its state where its military might was limited by the refuelling of the giant furnaces used to heat their city, so after years of research, they finally hatched a Phoenix.

This Phoenix acts as the artificial sun of their city at no cost to the mages and frees up their might. However it comes at a terrible cost as the phoenix fuels itself through the heat energy left in the rest of the world. This in turn makes the winter manyfold worse, causing smaller settlements to freeze over and large ones to shrink drastically. Thankfully, the Phoenix is still immature and its power not yet at its peak.

Now the story begins in place of one of these former large settlements that is shrinking. the protagonist must rally all the other settlements to fight against the remnants of the empire, but it wont be easy. As to gather the fighting force needed all of them must sacrifice some of their citizens to the unending cold due to insufficient mages powering their furnaces.

Tech in a Sysapoc

I get why authors make technology completely obsolete in most System apocalypses as its honestly a big fucking pain in the ass to write, as to be somewhat accurate you gotta do a lot of research. If you do tech wrong you displease people who love it and can peeve people who hate it just because of its existence, so no wonder they make it obsolete.

However in my experience, these stories start off as base humans fighting monsters and then they gain strength , but no amount of strength a base human can muster with any cold weapons will kill a monster that can ignore bullets. And things like halting the chemical reaction of explosions or having complex mechanical constructs break down just is not really fun when the answer is literally right there.

Money.

Just look at the Iran war happening right now, the US is bleeding billions for a relatively short war, what would happen if the war happens in the entire world? Gates opening everywhere and needing military intervention would drain any modern military’s logistics fast. It would be better to have modern weapons be extremely effective, but also extremely expensive.

Other than that, technology requires the entire world to work together and when shipping gets inevitably disrupted by monsters, the cost of tech would skyrocket. Therefore still solving the problem of having a semi low tech setting where swords and magic reign supreme, whilst having a plausible explanation (not an asspull) why tech would fail in a sysapoc.

Switch acc handles

So i have two accounts where i want to switch the handles between the two of them and it is imperative that i don’t lose the handle of one of the accounts as it is used as a way for someone at my high school to contact me if they want to reconnect later on in life.

is there anyway to bypass the 14 or 30 day restriction?

Dungeon Robotics

I swear the MC is so fucking dumb for being a 60 something old scientist that brought upon the AI revolt. Why the hell is he bothering with so much unnecessary drama by dealing with the village in that way, he could accelerate its growth manyfold if he intervened more. other than that he keeps making sentient constructs over and over and over again and it’s getting fucking boring. author expects us to care about them but honestly there is just so many of them and they all have personalities as bland as white rice. its so uninteresting.

also TOO MANY FUCKING POVS ISTG and its from characters that are single dimensional in personality. I came here for dungeon building and the MC, pray tell why most of the chapters after the first book aren’t even from the MC’s perspective? I still remember the most egregious part of this POV switching is that there were two chapters where the EXACT SAME SCENE was played but only through the POV of the MC and a side character in that scene. However the POV of the side character contributed jackshit to the story that the POV of the MC hasnt already done. my man, the delivery of the dialog and reactions were basically the same only it was “MC said” not “I said”

but oh well im pushing through bcs i wanna see when the MC orbital strikes another dungeon.
