Cheap produce here ?

I went to a small local produce store yesterday and my jaw dropped. I literally only bought bag with bunch of apples unfortunately was bad ) a few tomatoes, a single cucumber, and baby carrot... and the total came out to $20.
That is absolutely insane! I want to support local businesses, but I just can't justify paying those prices for a single day's worth of basic veggies.
Where is everyone going for affordable, cheap produce in the Sunnyvale/santa Clara I’m looking for fresh fruits and veggies that won't break the bank. Thank you!

Renting vs. Buying at 40 in Sunnyvale

Hi everyone,
My family and I have been renting here in Sunnyvale for about 4 years now and we absolutely love the community. We are hitting our late 30s/early 40s with two young kids, and we’re having the ultimate Bay Area debate: to buy or to keep renting?
My husband is a software engineer with a good income, so on paper, we should probably start looking to buy a home. However, he is incredibly anxious about the future of tech. With all the changes around AI and the constant threat of layoffs, he’s terrified of locking ourselves into a massive Sunnyvale mortgage, only for the tech market to shift and leave us unable to pay or resell down the road.
Because of this, we’re still renting, but I sometimes feel confused and anxious that we are "behind" by not owning a home at our age.
I’d love to hear from others in the area, especially tech families:

  1. Is anyone else letting AI/industry anxiety pause their home-buying plans?
  2. For those who chose to be long-term renters in Sunnyvale, do you regret it or do you prefer the flexibility?
  3. How are you balancing the desire to plant permanent roots here with the unpredictability of the tech job market right now?
Would love to get some experiences or advice. Thank you!

How many people with Hashimoto’s actually have Celiac Disease? 📊

Hey everyone,
There is so much talk in the Hashimoto’s community about gluten, but I’m really curious to see what the actual breakdown looks like in our group.
Many medical studies show a strong genetic link between thyroid autoimmunity and Celiac disease, but a lot of people also struggle with non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) or choose to go gluten-free without formal testing.
Where do you stand? Please cast your vote in the poll below!
If you feel comfortable sharing, drop a comment below with:
• How you got diagnosed (blood test, endoscopy, or just tracking symptoms).
• If you had to do a "gluten challenge" beforehand.
• How going gluten-free has impacted your thyroid numbers (TSH/antibodies) or daily energy!

Goodwill work for mom

Hi everyone! I’m a local mom and I’m looking ahead to next year when my son will be starting Transitional Kindergarten (TK). I really want to start working part-time to help my husband out with the bills, and there is a Goodwill store just a 10–15 minute walk from my house, which would be amazing since I wouldn't have to worry about a commute.
However, I have some questions before I get my hopes up because I don’t have anyone to watch my kids after school lets out.
How do you apply? Is it better to go into the store and ask for the manager, or is it strictly online?
What are the rules on pay? Is it hourly? In California, I’m hoping the pay is decent enough to make the time away from home worth it.
Shift Flexibility: Can I choose my hours? Ideally, I’d need to work while my son is in school and be home by the time he’s out. Do they allow "mid-day" shifts (like 9 AM to 2 PM), or do they force you to work full 8-hour days or evenings?
Is it worth it? For those who have worked there, especially moms, is the environment supportive?
I’m really just looking to contribute to the household, but my kids have to come first since I don't have outside help. I'd love to hear your experiences!
