The actual Silent Hill 2 movie

Did you ask know there was a Silent Hill 2 movie that released this year? It's called Hokum.

I'd swear that the creator pitched this to Konami and the publisher behind RTSH, and when they handed out of to Christoph Gans, they went and made it anyway.

From the dirt bag main character, the otherworldly vibes, to the heavy harsh music, this movie is by far the best piece of SH media outside of the games. I can't recommend it enough.

When is a good time...

Do we know when this is all finalized?

Out from under the yolk of Microsoft, I can actually buy their game and continue with the BDS boycott of Microsoft. When will the money actually go to them?

My two cents

I saw Supergirl yesterday. I liked it well enough, but it has some rough parts.

*LIGHT SPOILERS *

Millie was really good, if a little bit underwritten. Her quippiness works in the scenario, but leaves you at emotional arms length. You have empathy for her because of the situation, not because she engenders or in you. In future movies they need to pull back on that.

I also liked Krem more than I was expecting. He isn't a large scale villain with big dangerous plans, but gotdang he's a disgusting douche bag who you really want to see get it.

If I didn't know James Gunn didn't write and direct this, I would have thought it was him really phoning it in. The movies starts pretty strong, bogs down in the middle, and just when you're about to check out on it, it's gets really awesome. If only the middle were about half as long and skipped the Argo City stuff. A lot of the moment to moment dialog is first draft level drivel. As an example, when Kara is trying to talk Ruthye or of the idea of getting revenge, she just says the most typical "is not going to make you feel better" straight out of the most generic CW episode. There was nothing they could pull on from her charger or experience, to have anything more compelling than "you'll regret it for the rest of your life!" This kind of stuff is the most disappointing in light of how good the writing from superman is.

Current Trailer Rumor

So the new rumor making the rounds is that the Senua trailer in Microsoft's showcase was to drum up interest in someone buying Ninja Theory. It certainly would explain the move to a more standard, much less interesting structure, and combat focus.

To me, combat in these games is not the reason I'm there. It is the part of the game that could be excised with the least being lost. Hellblade was an incredible experience, and more prevalent combat would have nothing to make it better. The combat that they showed in this trailer not only didn't fit the series, but shows a direction that I personally have no interest in.

If they get bought, that's great and I hope it's by a publisher {or themselves) that would allow them to make the game they want, but if the tragedy comes true, and they are shuttered, there is at least a legacy of games that are artistically driven and more than the sun of their parts.
