Hello all I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

When looking into different schools of Buddhism, I've seen some monks of the theravada sect saying that the concept of bodhisattvas as they are in Mahayana/vajrayana schools are not historically accurate and are just corruptions of mainly Greek deities.

How true/accurate is this claim?

And also in a similar vein,what are some beginner reading materials for somebody looking into vajrayana Buddhism? Is the Pali canon a text found in this school?

And if so why or why not?

I know that all Buddhist sects have in common have the following in common; refuge in the Buddha dhama and sanga,and they teach the 4 noble truths and the eightfold path.

But I can only seek to find reading/commentary from a theravada perspective.

My best friend is begining to pack up her things and move to a new apartment.

I'm happy for her cause she's getting into a better place for herself as well as a better (somewhat) work environment.

But I can't help but be worried about loosing connection with her and drifting apart once she moves.

We work at the same store for the same company,and so we hang out a lot outside of work and in it.

I know that loss is part of life.

And although she has yet to move and we are still gonna remain friends,can someone recommend some talks/readings and /or meditations on grief/anxiety/loss?

These are emotions that I want to learn to cope with and manage not just here and now but as well as when they pop up in the future.

I just had my first reading in the religion, earlier today!

Everything was amazing, super clear and helpful and answered many concerns and questions I had.(He talked about my ancestors with such clarity and detail,only a family member would know what he said.)

Once I left however I was reviewing over what he said.

He said for me to find a rock when I go walking,one that has character and speaks to me.

And once I find it,to start tending to it with cigar smoke and blowing rum and candy/guayaba etc etc when petitioning elegua

(And when we tend to his elegua we could start feeding my stone too)

Like a substitute/mini elegua,so I can start my relationship with him

Is this a normal part of the religion?

I've never heard of this although like I said this was my very first reading in the religion.

(He seems extremely trustworthy, humble and knowledgeable,not cocky or like a scammer at all)

I'm setting up my first divination session with an oba oriate,this upcoming Wednesday.

I'm nervous but ready to take my first steps towards the religion.

When it comes to attending the session are there any specific questions I should ask?

Any certain clothes I should wear?

I plan on getting a ride there with a friend should I let the oba know this before showing up?

And what should I expect?

(Any tips on what to look out for?)

And lastly I don't wanna be a bad guest should I bring anything besides payment as a way of thank you?

(P.s. I'm also gay and of European(white) ancestry I know that Santeria/Lukumi/isse is open to everything who goes through initiation,but should I disclose this info to the gentleman divining? I know that not every house is accepting/tolerating of everyone,and just don't want to walk into a dangerous environment.)
