MONTECH TG3 - Full review and Build Impressions

MONTECH put out a call for people interested in reviewing this case. I applied and they chose me as one of the reviewers! This is an awesome new ATX case coming in at a $59.99 price point. I was super excited to get to do this review it's my first time getting sent a product like this in the hobby I love being asked only to post my thoughts about it. I made a full YouTube video showing the case top to bottom, front to back, and side to side.

My impression of the case is very positive. It has a lot to like about it. Let me know if you have any specific questions. Thank you MONTECH for a chance to review this case and good job on it!

If you had $167 left on a Newegg gift card what would you buy?

I think I’m set with core components for now, not many that I can get with the remaining $167. Pictured is my 3 pc setup for me and my two kids.

I have another wireless headset on the way. Open to any suggestions on what you’d get.

I finally got tired of the mess.

It’s still not perfect but way better than it was. I mostly used velcro cable ties to bunch cables up and attach then to the legs of the desk. I also added a rope light so I can see the top mounted usb ports on my pcs.

I finally got tired of the mess.

It’s still not perfect but a huge improvement. Plus I added the rope light so I can see the top / front usb ports.

MSI Nightblade MIB in 2026

I wanted to share my thoughts on this older, really cool, prebuilt from MSI. It has an Intel i7 7700 and a 1060 3gb so it’s pretty ancient by today’s standards but I had a lot of fun getting it up and running again. I also noticed a lack of teardown content when I went to do my upgrades and repairs so I want to make sure to put this out there incase anyone else needs it.

My garage home gym.

It’s a mix of second hand and basic stuff but I’m really happy to have it.

Conflicting sizing recommendations between two local contractors.

I have two local contractors giving me conflicting information about the size of unit I should have installed. For reference my house is 1350sf with a bonus room that’s not tied into the main ducting branches taking up about 350sf of that. My current system is a 20 year old outdoor Carrier 2.5 ton heat pump with an air handler in the crawlspace. I live in the Salem Oregon area so a pretty moderate climate. Home is built in 1982 but has had many upgrades over the years including under the floor insulation and newer doors and windows.

One contractor says a 2.5ton system is oversized because of all those upgrades and they want to use a 2 ton variable speed system.

The other says 2.5 is slightly low for our needs and they recommend a 3 ton variable speed system basically stating that the variable speed nature mitigates and concerns of over sizing.

I’m not sure to believe. I did my own Model J evaluation with Cool Calc but I’m not sure how actuate that is or how exactly to apply it. It says my heating needs are about 18000btu/h and cooling 25000btu/h but again I’m not sure how accurate that is but I did do my best to account for everything.

Any advice on how to resolve my concerns and choose the right sizing is very appreciated. It’s a lot of money and I’m concerned about what to do because at least one of them is wrong on this. They are the only two local companies but I could reach out to the town over about 25-30 minutes away but I would like to use one of these local companies.
