What if we could share our experiences with publishers and read others’?

Would this help you when looking for or choosing a publisher?

Anti-fake verification method for publisher reviews. Will it work?

Hi!

"We should be able to share and read real experiences with publishers from devs/studios who have actually worked with them", this was an amazing feedback we received two weeks ago.

BUT fake reviews can be a massive issue. Reviews need to come from verified developers, and the data has to be 100% trustworthy for indie studios.

We came up with a verification method and want to ask: do you think this solves the problem?

  1. To leave a "Verified" review, a dev inputs their game's Steam AppID into their Account Dashboard.
  2. We automatically fetch the official developer/studio contact email associated with that Steam page and sends a one-time verification code.
  3. Once verified, you can write your review.

This way, we can be 100% sure (can we?) that the reviewer is actually the dev of that Steam game.

What do you think? Will this work/does it sound safe?

Can't find a publisher or don't know who to pitch to? This free tool might help.

Scanned Steam and built a filterable database of publishers (12,547 as of today). You can filter the list by:

  • Total games released
  • Partner studios they've worked with
  • Steam tags associated with their portfolio
  • Supported languages
  • Last release date (for filtering out inactive companies)

Planned Features:

  • New filter: Median Steam review count
  • Shortlist: To track pitching activity
  • Comments: Note down whether you've contacted a studio and share your experiences

What do you think? How to make it more helpful for indie devs and small studios?

Why sign up?

It's for the upcoming features. Currently building an outreach shortlist and a pitch deck feature that will require authentication to save user data. You can still try the demo on the homepage and see what it looks like.

How often do you test prototypes on Itch.io? Do you find it useful? I'd love to hear about your experience.
