forward facing friends

taking pics of bugs facing towards the camera is funny to me so here’s some good ones that i’ve held over the years

hibiscus curculios

i’m in northeast louisiana and so far i’ve found 3 of these guys, apparently they’re hibiscus curculio and they’ve all (so very surprisingly) been found on hibiscus!! these aren’t great pics but i am very excited about them because there are only 15 recorded observations of them in all of louisiana (data from inaturalist and gbif), 3 of which are my own observations!!
(and if anyone else is confident that these IDs are correct, please go confirm my observations on inaturalist so they can be research grade🙏)

my first specimen!

decided a few days ago that i wanted to start collecting, and coincidentally today i came across this little guy on the ground while walking in the woods! i figure he may be quite common, but as i’m just starting out, i’m not very good with ID. does anyone know what species he is?
