Am I Only One Who Thought Season 5 was the Finale going into it?

Pretty much what the title says. I went into season 5 assuming it was the last season and about midway through was like “where is this going for a finale”.

So happy we get a season 6 and honestly hope they go beyond. Let’s let this stank hook up with The Expanse.

How do y’all feel about Colorized I Love Lucy?

I’ve been talking with my GF who has never really watched the show about doing a podcast and at some point she asked me when did the show go from black and white to color.

It led to a fun conversation about the colorization movement of the 80s and 90s. She didn’t realize the most classic scene from I Love Lucy with the chocolate factory was in black and white.

For me it made me recollect the forgotten memory that there’s some painfully bad version of some of my favorite TV moments that have a color filter added to them.

Where do you guys stand on this practice? I clearly am glad it’s mostly a forgotten footnote of history when executives thought adding color to old black and white content added value. But I can also see how the change made it more attractive to people who struggle to get through older shows and movies.

Thinking about starting a Rewatch Podcast and want feedback

Hi all! I’ve been watching I Love Lucy as my wind down show ever night since 2020 having also grown up watching it in the 90s on Nick at Nite. My GF has recently said she wants to watch it for the first time as I keep referencing it all the time.

That gave me the idea to do a first watch/rewatch podcast to be a chronicle of a first time viewer in her bringing new perspectives to a life long fan like myself.

Is that something that sounds interesting to yall? Are there certain things you’d like to see in a show like this?

Just trying to gauge if there’s a receptive community for a project like this.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Wish we could get back the Snap/PIP feature from Xbox One

My GF and I have been watching more baseball games at the season goes on. One day she goes “I wish I could play 007 while watching the game” and it triggered some memory I had forgotten from 2013 about watching TV from the HDMI IN on my Xbox One while playing Dead Rising 3.

Obviously nowadays it would be PIPing or Snaping a streaming app but that only makes it better. Imagine if you could have whatever you are binge rewatching on the side of your gaming.

And I will say the most important feature of this is controlling the game and other app volume separately. I do this on my gaming PC and usually have my game on my good speakers and the other media on a Bluetooth speaker so maybe letting us have multiple audio outputs would be a great feature too.

Circa 2013 saying “Xbox On” after work was magically

I know the Xbox One gets a lot of hate but am I the only one who remembers how magically it was to get off a shift at work or ending a school day and only had to say “Xbox On” and as I walked through the door to have my TV, Xbox and sound system all turn on back to whatever I was doing for my entertainment and just sinking back in.

I know bundling in the Kinect and that crazy price point messed up the Xbox One, but they basically had home automation down for the masses before the masses even knew what that meant.

It was a magical time and these days the magic has been reduced to me screaming “Alexa shut the fuck up” as it offers me advertising follow ups after I ask it to turn the lights on.

In season 1: does the show get better?

Recently learned about the issues with securing rights to get the show out on DVD or streaming which made me seek out the restoration project and watch it (that and learning about the live episodes, I love live TV).

Little over halfway through season 1 and it's... okay? A little rough. Writing feels a bit like it's only 70% what it should be. Does it get better or is this what I should expect for the full run?

GF and I had our first sherry…

…and it was a fun experience. I found it a little too sweet (was a cream style so I want to try a fino next time since I prefer dry wines) but she absolutely loved it.

We didn’t drink it while watching Frasier as thats the show we fall asleep to but instead Jeopardy. And barring Antiques Roadshow I can’t think of any other domestic broadcast show that’s more quintessentially Frasier as that.

Cheers
