Another Kid Put His Hands Around My Son's Neck

We were at the park today and my 3-year-old son found another 3-year-old boy to run around with. My son is very energetic and I try to let him do his thing in terms of running around and exploring at the park. I noticed some rough housing but wasn't concerned because my son still seemed to be having fun.

I was sitting on a bench talking to the other boy's mom and we were both holding our babies. My son was on one of those saucer swings when the other boy came up and put both hands around my son's neck and essentially started choking him.

I feel like it started and ended before I could put my baby down to go take the other kids hands off my kid. The other kid then went back to more traditional hitting, which his mom promptly stopped and she removed her kid from the situation and both boys went back to playing together after, though I was more sure to keep a closer eye on them. The other mom did not see the choking.

It has put me in a funk ever since. I feel like I didn't protect my son or act fast enough. I feel like I kind of froze and in those few fast moments I saw my son didn't like what was happening but I couldn't really specifically explain his response because it just feels like a blur.

Hitting, kicking and pushing is one thing and sometimes my son is the perpetrator with those actions. But choking?? It just freaked me out. Like, where did this 3-year-old learn that? Maybe he sees his dad do it to his mom, who knows? I feel like it just came out of nowhere.

I tried to have a conversation with my son about it after and talk about how it doesn't feel good when other people hit us and that's why we dont hit other people.

My son is perfectly fine. I dont know I'm just feeling guilty over it like I should have protected him more. But Im trying to use it as a learning lesson to keep a closer eye on him and also act sooner.

Baby Cries NearConstantly

My baby is 7 months old. I obviously love her so much but she cries about 85% of the time. At 6 month checkup doctor said nothing looks wrong and she just seems to be a clingy baby since she almost always calms down once my husband or, mostly I, hold her.

She mostly wakes up screaming and crying. Usually when i nurse her she pops off each boob about 10 times screaming and crying before finally latching for a considerable time and drinking. Can rarely play on her mat alone without screaming and crying.

I feel blessed that she 1.) Enjoys her car seat and 2.) Isn't a terrible sleeper. Still, her near constant crying and need for constant attention and entertainment is wearing on me. I try to keep it together, but I find myself sometimes snapping at my toddler or telling him I dont want to play because I'm just so exhausted and overstimulated. I dont want to be this way. I just want the crying to stop. I feel so terrible that she seems so unhappy.

I've read other babies grow out of it as they become more mobile and I'm hoping that's true for her, too. She usually loves sitting up assisted. Im so eager for her to start crawling and pulling herself up.

Please tell me I'm not alone and it gets better.

Short Rain Boot?

Im wanting a short rain boot - not a huge fan of the Hunter ones just cause of the obvious label on front. Besides that, are they a good option? Anyone have any experience with Merry People or have any other suggestions?

What am I doing wrong?

Is my baby just being a baby?

My son & first, now 3, was SO chill and rarely fussy.

My second & daughter, 6 months, is NOT chill and quite exhausting. Still, I know I have it better than some. She only wakes up once, maybe twice or no times at all, to nurse during the night and sometimes while awake she's happy and chill...

But it seems like half or maybe most of the time she's screaming and crying. It sounds like she's in pain sometimes she's losing it so much I worry something is wrong but when I pick her up she stops.

For example, she'll be fine when I'm holding her, I put her down to help my son or do a task I can't while holding her, she cries immediately and then when I pick her back up she stops.

The other evening she barely cried and this hasn't happened in what seems like at least the past two months and it was honestly HEAVEN.

Yes sometimes I babywear but that's not feasible sometimes. I'm just looking for any support or commiseration. When did your baby stop this kind of fussiness? I really am trying to enjoy this time as best I can because I know she'll never be this little again but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't wearing on me.

HELP (make ahead GF) sides for chicken dinner

Hi!

We are hosting a dinner where my husband will be grilling chicken. I need 1-2 gluten free sides that are preferably easy to make ahead and served cold?

I was gonna make a salad but due to current affairs I don't think that's an option.

I don't know why this is so difficult for me to figure out so I really appreciate any ideas & help! Specific recipes are much appreciated!!!

Vaccines!! (Repost with No Flair)

My almost 3-year-old is fully vaccinated and my soon to be 5-month-old will be too (following the previous guidelines before this current administration.)

I just asked a group of 4 of my mom friends and one of them said they denied their baby one at birth and another said with their youngest they're picking and choosing including also denying her one at birth though neither specified which ones. The other two said they're all fully vaccinated.

I'm assuming my oldest is fine but I'm concerned about my baby who isn't fully vaccinated yet. Do I fully avoid those two moms? And would I also avoid the other two moms who hang out with those moms who are lacking some vaccines?

I'm confused because out in public with other kids, or any interaction really, idk who's vaccinated or not so I guess there's always a risk in that sense?

I asked my doctor brother and he said the best thing I can do is just avoid unvaccinated people while baby is under 3 months, which like I said she is almost 5 months, continue to vaccinate her on schedule and avoid anyone who is actively sick but just curious to hear other opinions. Thanks in advance for your help.
