Help with dosing as I finally have a trial prescription!

My doctor gave me colesevelam to try out.

As someone with emetophobia new meds scare me. Then there this 4 hour before and after window with other meds. Some say take two in the morning and two at night. Others say some before every meal.

I am going to start with 1 tablet and see how it goes and work my way up to more. I’m already low fat eating. And of course this morning it’s potty time and I have to leave the house in an hour. Waiting for bentyl to kick in.

Any insight into starting this medication?

Caregiver in NC

My mother is retired and deemed disabled due to ESRD and a home dialysis patient. She recently had lacunar stroke with minimal damage (thankfully) and she is practically blind and has motility issues. My father has undiagnosed dementia (so difficult to get him to a doctor). I live with them managing everything. What would I need to prove exemption from the work requirement when I renew? Thank you for the advice.

*my parents earn too much in SS and retirement annuity to qualify for Medicaid, we have a very comfortable income. I wish I could get paid for this!

Help or something

Long story short. I suspect BAM, fat issue or EPI. My PCP, a nurse practitioner, ran standard stool tests and nothing positive. She just told me to go to GI and won’t test or trial a binder waiting for the appointment now. A few months ago I decided to cut fat and go strict which works. I’m using loperamide because I’m afraid to stop it and I’ll poop all day. I cheated and ate 10 tater tots and blew up a grocery store the next day and had to drive home scared I’d ruin my new vehicle.

I have many food aversions to poultry and pork. Beef is good but FAT! Haven’t tried canned tuna. I’m living on like 5 things and I just want flavor and to not potty the next day. Also so much gas. What do I eat? Help! Any tips appreciated.

Dialysis at a SNF? Noooo!

Long story short my mother on PD (I do it all) has had a subacute stroke (nothing paralyzed or whatever like you see/hear about) in hospital while investigating what is wrong with her on day 4/5 of her stay. We’re not even done with testing since it’s all new as of this morning.

Now they will definitely want to discharge to a SNF due to the stroke. The ones with dialysis are pure shit in my area. She stayed at one last year after a heart attack and began hemodialysis there, caught c.diff, the worst food and cried at me that it was awful after the first night. We pushed through. Of course, the hospital was luxury care especially in the step down unit. She was just weak then and needed PT/OT and dialysis. Now she’s just plain vulnerable and will have to switch to hemo. I don’t even know what to think or do. I do not want her staying in such a horrible place again. I don’t know what they can do that I can’t besides get paid to give poor care and PT/OT. I’d rather drive over everyday to do PD at a decent place.
Thanks for letting me vent. Advice appreciated.

I need to vent as a caretaker

My mom’s on PD and has limited mobility and poor eyesight. We’ve spent, at least a month, dealing with constipation that lead to fecal impaction. That I managed to resolve. My mom was scared of all the backed up poo loose stools. She didn’t feel well and decided to not drink or eat during this time. Resulting in a 3 day hospital stay from the severe dehydration. She was discharged 7/20 Monday at 6pm. Doing much better, eating and drinking, and still bit weak. She did miss her monthly labs for July and adequacy test which we need to get done tomorrow if I can schedule it. I have spoken with the nurses and on Monday morning, her discharge say.

My father has dementia. So I deal with him, as well. He’s a toddler that stays up all night.

I, as a person (!), have my own non-existent life and medical problems. Wherein my guts want to torture me randomly. Making not want to do anything but rest and let the medicine work.

The last month has been a test on me. Ok. I can’t answer every call, I can’t return every call. Nothing is happening when I’m trying to hold it together.

It’s been three days and I haven’t returned the Davita nurse’s calls. They are lovely. I get it. I suck. It’s just a lot right now for me. I know I need to schedule July labs. We can do it tomorrow! She just called me while I was away from my phone, with my mom. She left a message about “a major communication issue between us and if it continues we maybe need to switch back to in center treatment. We need to schedule labs, call us back”. Be for real, please. It’s not like I’m not giving her dialysis treatments.

I do not want to explode on these people, when I return the call, that I’m STRESSED OUT! But I need some grace here. What do I do????? I didn’t know I’d be running Charity’s Old Folks home.

Geez

My dad just shaved with canned spray cheese this morning. Apparently, people from some unnamed country have been shaving with cheese and he saw it on the internet. He did in fact mix it up on the desk. I don’t even know.

Help me clean my 26

Please recommend products I can get in Walmart or auto store. Least effort expended to clean my truck.

It’s my first brand new vehicle. My previous cars (driven into the ground) were taken care of but I used whatever worked and wasn’t shiny and they didn’t have plastic all over. I didn’t care if my 18 year old dashboard on my 300K van didn’t last a few more years.

-Matte dashboard cleaner/protector in one product.
-Seat cleaner/conditioner/ protectant (they are leather on a RT?) not too slippery
-Tire shine (but not too shiny or whatever) that doesn’t get gross buildup and lasts decently if it exists
-products for the bed and bumper plastics (I live in a cornfield I get hit with dust and bird poop that settles into the texture and grooves) anything to helps repel if it exists.

Thanks for helping!!
