I know that the events of the books very generally are that of the invasion of an extra galactic species called the Yuuzhan Vong that utilize organic technology and are not a part of the Force. For me, the reason star wars has stuck with me for so long are the themes of the story that resonate with me and culture.

• The original trilogy is about oppressed people fighting back against a tyrannical imperial force overcoming their technological superiority to attain freedom.
• The Prequels were about an opportunist taking advantage of turbulent times to convince a democracy to surrender liberty.

But when I look up information on The New Jedi Order books all I can find are people explaining what world ships are or how the Empire would fight off the Yuuzhan Vong and I want to give the benefit of the doubt that these books are about more than just just "we must defeat the scary other that has invaded" or god forbid "maybe Palpatine was right"

I currently use a truly old as hell Flash CS4 since it has no subscription fees to it being back in the days you could buy software on CDs. I'm curious what suggestions for non-subscription preferably cheep or even free animation software I could transfer my 2D skills in Flash to. I know Blender has 2D animation functionality, but I am curious if there is anything more 2D focused or has some of flash's functions or features.
