Intro to Oil Painting class this Thursday in LIC!

🎨 Ever wanted to try oil painting but had no idea where to start?

We're hosting an Intro to Oil Painting class this Thursday, August 20th at On the Easel Studios in Long Island City.

You don't need to have painted before. You don't need to own a bunch of expensive supplies. And you definitely don't need to consider yourself an "artist."

We'll walk through the basics of working with oils in a relaxed, approachable setting—and you'll actually get to spend the evening painting rather than just watching someone demonstrate.

📍 On the Easel Studios

4301 22nd Street, Long Island City

📅 Thursday, August 20th

🎨 All supplies included

🖌️ No experience necessary

If you've ever looked at an oil painting and thought "I'd love to know how to do that," this is a good place to start.

Come curious. Leave with a painting.

Feel free to ask any questions about the class in the comments!

Intro to Portraiture (4-Week Class) – Saturdays 11am–1pm (LIC Studio)** 🎨

I’m running a **4-week Intro to Portraiture class** starting this Saturday, and it’s designed for beginners or anyone looking to build a stronger foundation in painting faces.

We’ll meet **every Saturday from 11am–1pm** in my studio in Long Island City. Over the four weeks, you’ll learn how to simplify the portrait process, understand proportions, mix realistic skin tones, and build a painting step-by-step.

**What to expect:**

* A structured, beginner-friendly approach to portrait painting

* Guidance on proportions, value, and color mixing (we use a limited Zorn palette)

* Live demos + hands-on instruction

* A relaxed, supportive environment (no pressure, no experience needed)

* You’ll complete your own portrait painting by the end of the course

**What’s included:**

* All materials (paint, brushes, surfaces, etc.)

* Step-by-step instruction each session

* Individual feedback and guidance

It’s a small group setting, so you’ll get plenty of attention and help along the way.

If you’ve been wanting to learn how to paint portraits but didn’t know where to start, this is a solid entry point. Happy to answer any questions 👍
