Ground Truth: The Game

Ground Truth: The Game

Hey y’all!

I just set up the prelaunch for a card game I created called Ground Truth. It’s an adversarial card game where one player is the Emergency Manager and the other is the hazard. The EM has 15 staffing points and can use 3 action points per round. You can replenish staffing through mutual aid cards. The hazard has inject cards that build the intensity of the hazard, in the attempt to overwhelm the EM. Currently, there are two hazard decks: Wildfire and Pandemic.

Each game is designed to last 12 rounds. Timing largely depends on experience, but anticipate an hour long game.

While this is designed with professional emergency managers in mind, it’s still fun for all gamers!

Ground Truth: a card game for emergency management

Hey y’all! I have a prelaunch page up for a game I have created: Ground Truth.
It is an adversarial card game where one person plays the emergency manager and the other plays the hazard. The intent is to think like a hazard and learn how to mitigate. While it is geared toward EM professionals, it also fun for the general gaming crowd.
Some artwork has been posted under “updates.”
My goal for the campaign is $10k and it officially launches September 14th.

National Preparedness Month Theme 2026

Anyone else have strong thoughts on the theme for this year from FEMA? I was fairly onboard until some of the kinda politicized language they snuck into the advisory.

EM Card Game for Training

Hey y'all! I got a lot of great responses and interest on my EM gaming post last week. I wanted to share the Kickstarter page for anyone interested in bringing this to their agencies.

I would love any and all feedback that can make this the most useful for everyone. This is especially true for the Training Tier I have. Let me know what you would need straight away to implement a card game into your training reserves!

Edit: yes, I used AI to assist with copy editing. I’m an emergency manager, not a marketing expert. The game itself was created by me, and the upcoming artwork is done by a REAL HUMAN ARTIST.

EM Gaming

Hey yall! I’m an emergency manager by day, independent game designer by night. I’ve already launched one successful TTRPG for emergency managers to get past the checkbox focus of tabletop exercises. I’m currently designing an adversarial card game (think Magic the Gathering) where you get to play the emergency manager or the hazard. I’m trying to gauge interest to crowdfund this project. Would this be something your agencies would use for added training?
