I wrote a book about electrolysis and life with PCOS

It’s been a long time coming, and it feels so good to finally be done. I wrote it as a memoir, telling my personal PCOS story and how it led to me sharing my entire electrolysis journey on YouTube. It was extremely therapeutic and cathartic to write, and although community rules prevent me from posting a link on here, I hope it eventually finds its way to you because I am optimistic that it will help, make you laugh, make you feel seen, and remind you that you’re not alone!

Electrolysis changed my life after suffering over 20 years with a beard from PCOS

I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 15. I’m now 38. At the age of 33 I was finally able to start getting electrolysis permanent hair removal to rid of my beard that was excessively stimulated after getting laser (paradoxical hypertrichosis). I shaved my face every single morning for 20 years, sometimes twice a day. I lived a life in hiding, debilitating anxiety, the beard and my 5 o’clock shadow consuming every single moment of my thoughts. To free those thoughts, feel my face now and it is smooth instead of rough and sandpapery, is just one of the remarkable things I’ve never experienced until now thanks to electrolysis. It’s like I’m living a new life.

I’ve vlogged my entire electrolysis process since I started in 2021. Shaved my face every morning for 20 years before I could start getting electrolysis.

It’s like I’m living a new life, I look back at how my hair used to be and just stare and disbelief. I’ve gotten over 170 hours of electrolysis over the last five years, and it has changed my life!!

I regret getting laser hair removal: It triggered MORE facial hair. PCOS | ELECTROLYSIS | HIRSUTISM

“Beware of Paradoxical hypertrichosis” is the biggest warning sign I wish was on the front door of every single laser clinic in the world. Laser can stimulate hair instead of reducing it. This risk, if even talked about, is always coined as rare. But the truth is, it’s not rare, it happens to so many people. It is just not talked about even a fraction of the amount that it should be. I’m striving so hard to spread awareness and hope to even save one woman from having this happen to her too.
