So I know that we're in the playoffs, but with how close we are at approaching the offseason, I have a few questions regarding the FO.

I wanna preface this by saying that I'm a hockey fan, so I'll be using a lot of hockey references here.

1. There's not a salary cap nor floor in the MLB, but is there an equivalent site to puckpedia to track which players team's movement and contracts?
2. Is the MLB offseason similar to the NHL offseason, i.e. players

becoming

1. RFA/UFA, they get traded, then arbitration takes place?
2. What exactly is a farm system? I keep hearing oh the Brewers have a good pitching farm or the Mariners have a good player development farm. Are these not their Triple-A and Double-A affiliates, or is there something else going on?

Just finished watching the Brewers vs. Pirates game, and I noticed that on the collar of the Pirates catcher, Henry Davis, is engraved the Bible verse Romans 10:13, quite visible for everyone to see. Yet nobody's fining or batting an eye at him, proving that there's no discrimination against Christians in the league.

For those of you unaware, there was a recent controversy in the league, where 3 Giants players, Brubaker, Walker and Roupp wrote Genesis 1-12:14 on their Pride hats, and Hentges just flat out refused to engage in any pride activities at all. The 3 said players were fined on the ground that MLB uniforms are not for players to alter - Hentges wasn't - but they stated that this was discrimination against their faith.

I no longer follow any athletes on instagram, because the amount of religious shit on their profiles really makes me uncomfortable. Checking out Davis's page, you will see that there's a page dedicated to faith and sport. Christians keep telling us to keep politics outside of sport but how many out athletes in the entire world are there compared to the athletes so proud to declare their beliefs on their instagram profile by the way?

If these people want to keep politics outside of sport, then they will also keep their personal politics outside of it. In so many press conferences and post-game interviews you will see the players wear shirts with anything on the line of Jesus or Jesus is King on it, very clearly visible too. Is that not politics also, or do they only have problem with LGBt people?

Anyway, rant over, fuck them.

Wanna preface this by saying that I'm not really an atheist, I'm spiritual but not religious. I believe in freedom of religion, that everybody can choose whichever religion they want to follow.

I find it absolutely absurd how many Christians just cannot wrap their heads around the fact that atheism is not a belief system. They keep saying how immoral our belief is when who's to police their belief is actually the moral standard, when all they do is condemn other people?

Also, I've yet to see people from any other religion go on missions spreading, sometimes enforcing their belief onto people of other cultures. This not only is harmful to those on the receiving end but could potentially be dangerous to the missionaries themselves too. If you don't think atheism is moral then just leave it alone, nobody's forcing you to quit yours.

A while ago I posted a question asking why pitchers don't bat. Now, I'm asking the reverse question:

1. When do position players pitch in a game?

2. Which players get to pitch?

3. Have they practiced beforehand?

4. Why not go to the bullpen then?

So I know this isn't the Sharks sub, but they're kinda my second Pacific team, and with all the negativity he brought us during his stay I wanna see how we feel about this.

Thing is, if any other Pacific team were to succeed, I'd want it to be the Sharks, and because of how good the locker room vibe has been over there, I don't want him ruining that for them.

So, any thoughts?

Mon titre de séjour va périmer ce 15 juillet, mais je viens de déposer la demande de renouvèlement d'un nouveau titre mercredi dernier, parce que j'étais en Allemagne et faisais mon stage là-bas jusqu'à cette date. En plus, puisqu'il fallait rattraper une grande partie des UEs, j'attends encore mes résultats définitifs et donc mon nouveau certificat de scolarité, donc j'avais déposé l'ancien certificat de l'année dernière.

Il a fait 5 jours depuis que j'ai déposé ma demande, je n'ai pas encore reçu de réponse. Donc je vous demande que dois-je faire maintenant?

So I didn't really catch any of the SCF game, one because I'm not a fan of either team, despite how 'great' the series was and two, living in Europe, playoffs games are so late, always at 2AM, and mostly on weekdays. I did catch some games from the 1st and 2nd rounds as the Pens are my Eastern team and I was bandwagoning on the Sabres, but after they were eliminated I stopped watching the NHL in general.

I did watch some of our Firebirds/Mavericks games just to get acquainted with out affiliate players, but again they were so late so I couldn't find much motivation.

I'm getting into baseball, and although my team are not the M's, I still do follow the team, the players and hope for their success this year.

Other than that I'm listening to all the analyses on players/league and game strategies so that I can understand more next year.

Hi Giants fans, Brewers/Orioles fan here. I'm newer to baseball, but do follow a few other teams outside my 2 main, the Giants being one of them. I wanted to make this post to thank this sub for the constant call out of all the anti-LGBT antics surrounding the players lately.

I'm a queer guy, and was a hockey fan before I also became a baseball fan. If you also follow the NHL, then you also know the controversy surrounding one of the 2 teams in the finals this year as well as around that group of players, many of whom are playing in the minors and might even get called up to the big league next year.

Though not a woman, being part of a minority group makes me really empathise with the victim. It also doesn't help that on the main hockey and nhl subs there are still so many comments discrediting her story, and a lot of political posts get censored by the mods too. Fans of said team also take no accountability for the shittiness that is the organisation.

Being a gay guy, I've learnt to accept the fact that every year around this time there will be bigots asking what's the point of pride, or religious radicals quoting Bible verses contradicting it, or refusing to wear any pride-related merch at all, saying everybody's free to do what they want. I believe so too, still do, but I also believe it's fair to call out said behaviour, because without our voices, those people will keep pushing us aside until we are silenced once again.

It's really heart-warming to see you guys denouncing the actions of your team's players/organisation. I don't like bringing hockey up again, but a lot of the fans there will be critical of other teams' organisation unless that mistake was made by theirs, in which case they'll defend their team to death. Being fan of a team does not mean you excuse any bad faith that team commits.

So thank you Giants fans, all the allies, and all the people in the community. This post was specifically about pride, but the same can be said about other minority groups as well (Asian-Americans, African-Americans, disabled people, women, ...). I know your team is in the dumpster at the moment but I'll never cheer against you guys when you play us, and thank you for Kyle Harrison, he's a gem.

Second one was to the Mets, weirdly.

Regarding pitchers, I have the following questions:

1. Why are there so many pitchers on the active roster? The bullpen itself takes up almost half of the 23-men roster, and not all of them will play in all games as opposed to other positions.

2. Why can't one pitcher pitch the entire game but there needs to be at least a closing pitcher and the majority of the times relief pitchers? I get that if the starting pitcher is struggling then the coach will switch him out with a reliever but if the starter's doing well, can't he pitch the duration of the game?

3. Why is it that 90% of the pitchers only pitch and not play offense? This may sound weird but when I first heard about the bullpen, I genuinely thought there were different players for pitching, offense and fielding. However many pitchers only pitch, and the offense is usually made up of fielders.

None of these questions are to take a jab at the pitchers, I understand that they're at the core of baseball, I just find positions in baseball a bit confusing and want some clarification.

I have a hard time seeing the difference between these 2 stats, particularly AVG. OBP is the extended version of AVG, so shouldn't we just only use it as the primary stat for a batter? I hope you understand what I'm getting at.
