My Sweet Granny

I started becoming interested in hoodoo/ancestor veneration for about 3 weeks now and I’m honestly grateful for the progress I’m making and everything I’m learning. I’m very big on venerating and honoring my matriarchal lineage as a woman who advocates for matriarchy & divine femininity. My maternal grandmother who I called “Granny”, transitioned the year before I graduated hs in 2013 on my birthday. I honestly believe she has always been with me in spirit. Example: my mother told me after my graduation ceremony in 2014 was over that it was so crowded that my family (mother and father’s side) sat all over where they could find a spot from the audience yet there was only one empty seat left right next to her. She told me, “That was granny”. My heart was so full hearing that. & of course the divine protection I receive everyday from harm and danger, I give all the credit to her prayers over me and my mother’s prayers who is also overly protective of me. Anywho, after considering practicing ancestor veneration 13 years after her passing, I welcomed her back in on the night of August 1, when I became emotionally overwhelmed with grief over her. It was sudden and I had been suppressing my emotions over my deceased grandparents for all this time since they have been gone. I missed her presence so much and that overwhelm was the battery in my back to begin communicating with her again. All I have is a glass of water, a candle and her photo that I would just talk to and express gratitude. Her birthday was August 10th and I honored my granny, just between her and I. I have also asked her for divine help when I’m in times of need or guidance since I’ve welcomed her in. Already she has shown up for me. My vehicle was at a dealership for two weeks and she helped me financially with the expense just last week when I got it back. The night of her birthday, I asked her for a sign when she’s trying to communicate to me and to know that I’m on the right track in my spiritual journey and as I’m building a better quality of life as a black woman. A spider appeared the next morning where I talk to her in private. I was startled because I despise bugs so I respectfully asked her last night for a different sign that would bring me comfort and suggested a very specific sign tailored to just us so I know in fact it’s my granny communicating with me. She must have loved the idea because she showed me that specific sign this morning.🥹 I was overjoyed and just felt relief and calm. She moves so quickly for me it’s as if she’s been waiting all this time for me to contact her and she misses me just as much. Although I was just turning 17 when she left me, she was my most favorite person in the world & always will be. Now that I just turned 30, I genuinely feel like I’m headed in the right direction with my life and feeling at peace and I have my granny right along with all my benevolent matriarchal ancestors by my side as my guidance and protection. I’m sincerely creating and building my life up for them so they can also experience the joys of life through me they were not afforded when they were here physically. My granny endured a much harder life on earth so I’m making it my duty to honor her with my life. 🤍

Aligned Friendship.

I’ve reached a point in my life as a woman at the ripe age of 30 that I can only closely befriend women who are not male centered and have mentally deconstructed religion and patriarchy or are actively on their journey of deconstructing & de-centering. I’ve witnessed and experienced how men and man made systems take years off of women’s lives leaving us drained and powerless. I am proud to be a woman and know our creative power and abilities. For millennials, women have been stripped & stolen of their divinity and true nature only to appease and serve men, our own creation. I can’t get on board with women who spend most of their time chasing men and their validation. It’s heartbreaking to watch and I wish all women were awakened to who they are and their creative power to manifest whatever is their heart’s desire independent of a man. My ideal friend is ambitious and resilient. She’s self sustaining and manifests a better quality of life, not just a man. My ideal friend knows men will always be available and doesn’t spend her time waiting on one to show up or act right. She focuses on loving herself and building her concept of self. She isn’t attached to the belief that masculinity created everything from the beginning and femininity came later. She isn’t subscribed to women being subordinate or dominated but uplifted and empowered. My ideal friend is a reflection of me. She is me and I am her. The woman is divine in her own right. She brings life! She is the pedestal! She is the creative energy! She is the source of her own life! This friendship is rare but that’s what I desire to manifest. Men are easy to manifest, women are unique and complex in the best way so I’m intentional when it comes to my desire of my type of friendship. I know it doesn’t happen overnight but I’m determined to attract it, I’ve done the inner work and will continue. Asé!

Decenter Him.

I want to make my first post from my new account (deleted my first one) by saying to deconstruct the male centric mindset. This is not a post to punish or insult. This is for fuel to remind you to focus on YOU. I’m not speaking out of my ass but from lived experience. Self-centeredness and neutrality is my superpower and are highly magnetic. I have researched, I have learned and I have successfully manifested. Furthermore, if there is one thing women can learn from men is this: men always put themselves first. Women should absolutely do the same. I stand on that. Do not waste your feminine essence and mental labor putting a man on a pedestal when you should be on it in the first place! If you desire a man, transmute that energy you give to him and put it all back within you. An example of how you can do this, try lighting a candle in your bathroom then affirm to yourself OUT LOUD in the mirror daily. This is mirror work. I do this myself and I make sure to express gratitude. Also create your own rituals and routines that appeal to you. Plan activities and do things that you like to do. Form habits that make you happy and productive rather than hyper focusing on a man. Women are innate creators who bring life! USE THAT NATURAL ABILITY TO MANIFEST. When you recognize as a woman you are the source of your power, you’ll care less about a man’s behavior and more about nurturing your energy and environment to manifest even higher ie; abundance, beauty and inner peace. You may find out you don’t even want him anyway and manifest a new one who’s even better! TUH! A man will come regardless when you’re tapped into your highest frequency! Men are so easy to manifest when you stop giving af so much about them! From an eldest daughter and sister, take my advice and don’t let this go over ya head! Mmwuah. 💋
