Thermostat wires

Thermostat wires

I have an thermostat in my kitchen for an old electric storage heater that I'm removing.

I'd like to use the wire for an small extraction fan which is quite close.

The wiring is a bit strange though. There's one double wire, black and red, and a single wire, black, going into it.

Can I just wire in the fan with the t and e? it's 2.5mm.

Insulation for a very thin reveal.

My window reveals are very thin, roughly 12mm, and there was just plasterboard there before I stripped it.

I've just put 72mm insulated plasterboard on the wall, and I now want to bridge the gap of the reveal with insulation. Most people would use 27mm insulation here, but I only have about 20mm max to work with.

The gap between the window and the wall is about 12mm, but there's another 8mm, before the blinds start.

So I'm looking for a thin insulation that will bridge the gap.

Thanks for any help.

Question for the electricians (uk)

I'm putting in some rigid insulation to my kitchen, and I have a question about one of my sockets.

Two cables, that came in to the room from the roof, went to the socket. Another cable went from the socket up to a fan. So I think this was one spur off a ring circuit.

Now though, I've changed things. I got rid of the fan spur cable all together, and put one cable going to the socket, and the other cable goes to the fan.

I think what I did was split the ring circuit, and made two radial circuits. I'm just wondering if this is ok?

Question for the electricians

I'm putting in some rigid insulation to my kitchen, and I have a question about one of my sockets.

I think it was a ring circuit, that came in to the room from the roof, went down the wall behind the old plasterboard to the socket. Another cable went from the socket up to the top of the wall again to an expelair fan. So I think this is one spur off a ring circuit.

Can I take one of those cables down the wall behind my new insulated plasterboard, and use it for the socket, and leave the other cable at the top of the wall, to be used for the fan?

Chasing the main meter tails myself

https://preview.redd.it/ufx8dc656h8h1.jpg?width=810&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95bde8495baf2387b0549391a9bda97290f29d08

The main meter cable comes through the wall into my kitchen, directly from the ESB meter on the other side of the wall. It runs up the wall and into the hall, which is the other side of the stud wall and into my fuse box.

Can I chase this cable myself? It seems like an easy job but ChatGPT is telling me to get an electrician because it's the main house cable.

What are your thoughts?

Edit: The plan is to put a rigid thermal liner on the wall (insulated plasterboard) 72mm. I was going to put the cables into a channel inside a PVC or metal conduit, and plaster over. That way I'll have a flat finish on the wall for the rigid insulation board.
