How do I Deal with an Awful Clinical Supervisor?

I’m in Semester 3 of the PND program and my clinical supervisor has been making clinical genuinely miserable. We’re only in week 5 of 14, and I honestly don’t know if I can handle another 9 weeks of this.

She has repeatedly belittled me in front of nurses and other students, threatened to fail me over things like being "1 minute late" to orientation because of an accident on the highway, told my assigned nurse I couldn’t perform basic ADLs simply because she hadn’t personally seen me do them (which was both embarrassing and untrue), mocked me when I struggled with a head-to-toe assessment, and has even told me I’ll never become a nurse. She regularly threatens students with failing, makes us reenact skills in front of the group and laughs when we make mistakes, and provides very little actual guidance or teaching on the unit. It got to the point where one of the nurses I was assigned to pulled me aside, asked if I was okay, and told me I should report the way my instructor was speaking to me.

There are honestly many more examples, but this post would become ridiculously long.

What frustrates me most is that I’m a strong student. I answer most of her questions correctly, show up prepared and eager to learn, and genuinely try my best. When I’m doing well, she seems to like me — but the second I make a mistake or hesitate, she treats me like I’m incompetent.

It’s also starting to seriously affect the rest of my semester. I’m constantly stressed about clinical, spending a huge amount of extra time preparing things we’re supposed to be learning there, falling behind in my other courses, and even my family and friends have noticed that I’ve become distant and irritable.

I’m hesitant to complain because, from experience, I don’t have much confidence that Seneca will actually do anything. I’m also scared that reporting her could make the rest of the semester even worse for me.

Has anyone dealt with a clinical instructor like this? Did you report them? Who did you go to, and did anything actually come of it?

Any advice would genuinely help.

To all the Canadian Medi Spa Owners: What is the Key to Success?

My dream is to open up a small aesthetic practice, specializing in skincare treatments, injectables, and a few soft skill services like lash lifts and brow laminations.

I previously had a small business but offering soft skill aesthetic services like shellac manicures, waxing, basic facials, and lash lifts / brow laminations. Almost 2 years ago, I left it to go into nursing school to expand my scope of practice.

I’m graduating nursing school soon (in Ontario, Canada), and although I am aware that I will still need to become certified in medical aesthetics and injectables, I know I want to work for myself again.

I also receive texts to this day with clients asking me when I will be reopening my doors, which makes me miss it that much more.

I don’t want to one day expand or grow my business, or have employees of any sort. I want to create a small community of consistent clientele like I had before, offer excellent service and attention to detail with every person I meet, and sell the best products alongside each treatment.

That being said, to all the small business owners and established cosmetic nurses: What is or are the key(s) to becoming a success?

Lost Lighter

AT 10 BAY RESIDENCE

I recently got my boyfriend a brass Elden Ring zippo-style lighter for his 25th bday. It’s beautifully engraved with Melania on it and meant a lot to him.

We turned his apartment UPSIDE DOWN trying to look for it and he’s almost certain he left it somewhere on the premises and someone picked it up. We looked at the lost and found in the laundry room, asked security, and scoped the entire building + surrounding area.. but nothing. He’s heartbroken over it.

If anyone has seen it anywhere and wants to be kind enough to return it, please private message me. It would honestly make both of our days.

Anyone Have Crisalina Amiana as a Prof Recently?

Her reviews on RMP are awful, but some are pretty dated. Anyone have her recently that can share some insight? Is she really that bad?

How Long is the BSNB Program?

I'm about to finish my 2nd semester in the PND program and I'm really interested in continuing to the BSNB program once I'm done (hopefully in August of 2027). My only confusion is about the length of time required, because I'm getting mixed information from Seneca's website vs people I've spoken to about it.

On the website it states full-time studies only, and 3 years (6 semesters total). But people IRL are saying that the semesters are consecutive. So, if I were to start in January of 2028, I'd be done in 2 years, not 3.. Right?

Can someone who's currently in the program or recently graduated please let me know how it works and what your schedule looks like?

Do I Break Up With Him?

My (26F) boyfriend (25M) and I have been together for 2.5 years, and I love him so much. He's truly the first man to show me what genuine love looks like. He's so sweet to me, gentle with my heart and feelings, and loves me loudly. We also share many of the same morals and values, interests, and overall outlooks on life - he's my best friend.

Despite all the wonderful things about him, I do feel like there are some things that I'm having trouble looking past - some things in his control and other things... not so much.

For example, the main issue is with his family. I hate them. Especially his mother, but they honestly all suck. His mom is incredibly overbearing, fake, and doesn't shy away from the "he's my son and I love him more" attitude, without saying it outright of course. She pretends to tolerate me and "love me" on the surface, but I know she has issues with many parts of who I am. Like sharing my voice on topics I feel matter, not being the most traditional Italian girl around, even my physical appearance and career have been shamed. So much so, that she asked if I would be interested in vacationing with the family, and I could physically feel the anxiety build at the thought of having to wear a bathing suit around them.

For context, I have struggled with my weight since I was a kid, and a few years ago went through a huge weight loss that I have been able to maintain, but I'm definitely not skinny. I go to the gym 6x a week which includes both cardio and lifting HEAVY, so I have defined muscle that I also think she dislikes. Although I feel worlds more confident, I still feel like my old, big self whenever I'm around them - not valued or respected.

She has made so many unnecessary comments both with and without me present, that I would never be able to trust her fully. And, despite it maybe not seeming this way through my frustration in this post, I'm actually really sweet and never combative with them, so I have a hard time understanding her issue with me, and it just makes me anxious to go to their house.

The rest of his family is also horrible. They're the type of people that drain you after 10 minutes of being around them - always complaining, always dying to be the person that's "right", being overly judgemental of people that are supposed to be their FRIENDS AND FAMILY, claiming to be traditional but they're just boring. Their values lie in academia, money, and luxury lifestyles (but I normally just refer to them as elitist). They are not people I would ever value. There are so many other things I could say, but I'll try to keep it concise here.

To those of you probably wondering why this matters at this point in my rant, family means everything to Italians. I have shared my feelings (gently) with my boyfriend and it breaks his heart to hear that his family members have made unfair comments towards me. So much so, that he's defended me in front of them, physically pulled me away from situations he knows would upset me, and set some boundaries too. Still, his mother is fucking relentless and cannot, for the life of her, let go of her children despite their big ages. I know we're going to have to see them for future events and stuff, and this is why its so upsetting.

Its gotten to the point that whenever my boyfriend comes home (he's currently getting his Master's a couple of hours away from home), I get anxious and wish he wouldn't, because I know that means I have to go over and see his parents. I am very worried for what this dynamic will be like once he's back home permanently in the fall.

Something that's more in my boyfriend's control, but still worries me, is how he handles being overwhelmed. He's on medication for panic attacks, but when he gets extremely stressed he can become really angry. It's like he gets into this emotional state where nothing gets through to him, and that's not something I'm used to seeing from him. He's never hurt me or even come close to intentionally hurting me, but I've told him that it scares me because what if one day he's so overwhelmed that he isn't thinking clearly? He completely understood where I was coming from and has been actively working on healthier outlets, which I genuinely appreciate, but it's still something that crosses my mind when I think about our future together - especially once life gets more stressful than just school.

Another big one kinda out of his control is that I haven't been able to orgasm with him yet. I've always struggled with this, no matter who I was with, but we've had conversations about how to get me there and even with those changes - nothing. And he's GOOD in bed so idk what's happening. I'm bisexual, and sometimes find myself thinking about being with a woman, which is another thing that worries me. Why am I thinking this way? Surely thats wrong..? I don't know, my open minded self tells me its normal but that I shouldn't act on it obviously, and I wouldn't want to jeopardize my relationship in that way anyway. But its been on my mind that maybe I didn't give myself enough time to explore my sexuality while single.

There are other really small things that give me the ick too, like little gaps in our sense of humour at times, how competitive he gets when we play games, and selfish things like not getting the door for me first or eating like a ravenous caveman at dinner. But none of those things have ever been enough for me to feel like I should break up with him.

I just have been thinking about all of these concerns combined lately, especially since he'll be living with his parents permanently when he's done with school, and its freaking me out.

I cried all night last night thinking about my life without him bc he really is my best friend, which is why its breaking me to even write this post. However, I want to know from people that were in a similar situation - is this something that can be worked on, or should I move on?

TL;DR: I love my boyfriend deeply and he's genuinely the healthiest relationship I've ever had, but I'm struggling with a combination of issues that make me question our future: I can't stand his family (especially his mom), he struggles with anger when overwhelmed, we're still dealing with sexual compatibility, and I've been questioning whether I explored my sexuality enough before this relationship. None of these things alone would make me leave, but together they've been weighing on me, especially since he'll be living back at home with his parents soon. For people who've been in similar situations, are these things that can realistically be worked through, or are they signs we're fundamentally incompatible?

Cosmetic Nursing Jobs in Vaughan

Hi everyone,

This is kinda niche to my canadian esthetic nurses, but hoping I can reach the right people!

I’m due to finish my RPN program next August and am extremely excited about getting a job in esthetics but, as I know the industry is quite saturated, wondering if there is anything I should be doing while in school to increase the odds of getting a job in the Vaughan area.

I’m planning on taking the old-school route of applying to every nearby med spa in person and giving my resume directly to managers / owners so they can get to know me a bit, but i’m not sure if that will be enough.

For reference, my background is in esthetics and esthetic education. I used to run a small business and I also taught soft skill esthetics at a college (and will be continuing that once i get through pharm and patho lol).

Not specifically looking for full time right away, I’m okay with starting part time but I just want somewhere I can begin to build my skills. Any advice would be so so helpful.

Thanks :)
