A beta testing plan?

I thinking of dual-booting my M3 MBA for the public beta. What I would like to do is create a new partition on my internal drive, install the Golden Gate beta, restore my latest Time Machine backup the new partition, then install the new betas there as they come out. Can I have one partition on the beta program without the other partition being on the beta program? Or do people think this is just too complicated an idea. (I've done public betas before, and never had any major issues...just thinking of trying something new.)

Confused by my Kobo library

I've gone back and forth between KOReader and Nickel a few times on my Kobo Clara BW. I've put KOReader back on the device and am confused by what I see in my Kobo's library and what I see in Calibre.

I have some books on the device I've been reading in Nickel. And I have a lot of books from when I last used KOReader a month or two ago (in between now and then I uninstalled KOReader). When I connect Calibre to the Kobo, Calibre shows books in Main memory I cannot see in KOReader. And when I sync a new book, it shows up Main memory in Calibre until I disconnect and reconnect, when it shows it's not on the Kobo, though I can see it in KOReader.

What is Calibre supposed to be showing me, what Nickel sees or what KOReader sees? Does Nickel keep books separately, in a place invisible to KOReader? Or am I doing something wrong?

Ultimately I'd like to be able to read in both KOReader and in Nickel, if that's possible, and manage my device with Calibre. Am I asking for too much?

Virtual ][ - Can't mount folder as Omnidisk

I'm using the latest Virtual ][ on a MacOS 26 MacBook Air, and I can't get Virtual ][ to mount an empty folder as an Omnidisk. It gives me an error as if I'm trying to mount the parent folder, and gives me an error saying the folder has files that are larger than 16 mb. This even happens if I have the disk out on the root; it will give me an error saying that a file in some subfolder is too large.

The machine has been booted with both ProDOS 1.1.1 and 2.4.3. I have the SCSI card in slot 3, though I have tried it in slot 5 as well with no better result.

Any clues about what I might be doing wrong here?

Apple Card/Savings weirdness

My Apple card is a linked account, Apple Savings is tracking only.

Last month we went through some spending and returning of Apple products on our Apple Card. Essentially we bought a MacBook Neo, returned it, and bought an iPad Mini. In anticipation of buying the Mini, but not at the time aware we were returning the Neo, I had $900 transferred from a different, untracked savings account, which I put into my "allowance" category (my "spend as I please" category).

When the return credit came in for the Neo, that ended up paying for a lot of the iPad, so I had money left over in the Allowance category. I transferred $500 into Apple Savings. It shows up as a transfer from my allowance category into Apple Savings in YNAB.

But there's also a $500 inflow on my Apple Card account in YNAB, and Apple shows no $500 credit activity on the card itself. My Apple Card has a $0 balance. Where did the $500 on my card (in YNAB) come from? And how do I get rid of it? I can, of course, just create a reconciliation adjustment, but I'm not sure that's the right answer.

I hope this is clear. I'm happy to try to clarify if not!

I have a 2024 XLE -- great car. But I'm confused about when the system goes in or out of EV mode. When I start the car, the gas engine comes on almost immediately -- within 5 seconds or so. And often when driving on suburban streets at a more-or-less constant speed, with little pressure on the gas pedal, there's no indication that the gas engine is off. The EV light seems very inconsistent, I've even seen the light stay off when the power indicator screen shows the engine is off (which might just mean the car is coasting, not using any power, I suppose). EV doesn't even show when I'm going 10 mph in parking lot half the time. I don't understand the logic of it.

Is there a place to go where an ordinary driver like me can figure out how this works, or whether I'm driving "incorrectly." I'm an experienced hybrid driver...drove a Prius for 15 years before getting the RAV4. I'm also not unhappy with how the RAV4 is running...mpg is in the high 30s right now in suburban traffic with a little freeway driving. I just want to understand a little better.
