Trying to ID a type of Foam Camping Towel from the 90s.

EDIT: I think we found it! After some help this is the closest I've found to what it was. Some form of synthetic sports swim towel. It might be a match. Especially looking at the reviews and user pictures of how awful it is when dry.

I'm trying to identify a type of camping towel I had back in the late 90s. I don't want to know the brand or anything. I'm just trying to figure out what it was made out of.

It was a synthetic towel that looked like it was some form of extruded foam with no bubbles or fibers visible. It wasn't microfiber.

When dry, it had the consistency of cardboard. But when you got it wet it softened a lot and expanded a little bit. It could absorb a LOT of water, but it was a terrible towel because it had to be a bit wet to work, and so it always left me feeling a bit damp.

It wasn't one of those "expanding towels" you see where they look like a white pill and expand into a full towel with water.

It reminded me a lot of some form of shammy, or squeegee material. But not any kind of fiber.

Santa Fe 2024 Hybrid. The Home Screen map is now locked to dark mode!!!

Ok this is infuriating.

When I bought this car the Home Screen map was light during the day and at night would switch to dark mode. At some point this year, due to an update, the Home Screen map is now in dark mode all the time. The full map screen goes light and the settings can adjust it. But there has to be a way to adjust the light/dark setting on the home screen map. But I can't find the setting in the menus.

I've seen posts by other people who had this happen, but if any of them found a solution, they haven't posted it.

WSJ reports major data center building firms all trying to unload majority stake in their companies. Rats fleeing a sinking ship?

This dropped 2 days ago and haven't seen much discussion about it.

So according to the Wall Street Journal (link provided here https://www.wsj.com/finance/investing/data-center-builders-are-racing-to-offload-stakes-worth-billions-1a7d92f8 ) Data Center builders and Operator firms like Netrality Data Centers, DataBank, Edged, EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure and others, are trying to sell off MAJORITY STAKES to investors, private equity, and banks.

They want to sell off ownership of their companies.

(Beginning Sarcasm)

But Why? If AI is going to be a massive money maker like these companies promised, then owning an AI data center would be like owning a gold mine right?

Unless it was all a huge lie and the guys who have been building all these monorails data centers are now trying to cash in frantically before the AI bubble pops and their companies are suddenly worth nothing and drowning in debt. But that can't happen, right?

(End Sarcasm)

The WSJ article is actually a funny read. They try to spin this as "They are pitching private-equity firms on a hot asset class benefiting from unrelenting demand for computing power."

But then the author proceeds to list the reasons why these data centers are a disaster. Pointing out that shortages in everything from gas turbines to memory chips are driving up the building costs and Nvidia is saying that prices are only going up. Oh and fierce local opposition to new data centers.

Of course they don't mention how any AI data center built around Hopper GPUs can't handle the Blackwell GPUs without a full overhaul of cooling and power feeds, and that it would have to be done AGAIN next year when Vera Rubin drops. Which means a full refit and replacement of all their hardware every 18 months or so unless the data center owner wants to be left holding an obsolete AI data center.

Donno. Kinda sounds like rats trying to flee a sinking ship.

Hyundai Santa Fe, water leak by drivers foot rest, tech blames sunroof???

About 3 months ago I had to bring in my 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe to the dealership service center (still under warranty) for an unrelated issue.

I got it back, but when it rained the next day the floor of the driver side was soaked. All around that spot where the driver left foot rest is. No other signs of moisture anywhere.

I took it back in and the service tech said it was from a "clogged drain line from the sunroof". That sounded odd to me because there was zero leaking aroind the sunroof and it has always sealed up perfectly. But the tech cleaned it out and i took it back.

Next rainstorm, the footwell is soaked again.

I take it back in and the same tech says (as Im dropping it off) it was probably something in the sunroof drain being broken and it will probably need a part replaced.

Now how the heck is about 2 to 3 cups of water coming down from the sunroof to the floor of the drivers foot well, when there are no signs of leaking or moisture anywhere else or around the sunroof?

Id expect a broken sunroof to be leaking water into the ceiling of the car as well if it was broken and letting water in.

Does this make sense to anyone else?

Thank you.
