Tried to take a Reddit pic before eating and almost lost the plot 🍲🦀

The plan was simple: snap the food, post am, then chop my food in peace. Instead I opened the bowl to "arrange" it small and next thing I know I'm three claws deep, bowl half empty, phone still open to camera lol 😆

What's in here:

Seafood Okra Soup 🍲

Ingredients Main,

Crab 🦀, cooked down in a pepper sauce (peppers, onions, seasoning, that dark rich sauce base)

Grilled fish 🐟, coated heavy in pepper and spice

Starch (the soft white swallow, wrapped)

Jumbo Snails🐌

Pounded yam, wrapped separately

The pepper sauce is doing its own work on the side, it's the kind that makes you forget you were supposed to be documenting instead of eating.

Who else has "just wanted a picture" and ended up in a full meal before they realized? And which Lagos combo does this to you every time?

Made in Naija just built a drone company doing security contracts — meet Terra Industries 🛰️

Everybody dey shout fintech fintech, but una never hear about our own home made Nigerian defense startup quietly building defence tech;

Terra Industries.

• They've raised $34M total, building homegrown drones and security systems.

• Already landed real paying contracts (including a reported $1.2M security deal) actual revenue.

• They're not just selling in Nigeria, there's a push into regional markets like Ghana too.

This na the kind builder story wey deserve more shine. While the naija ecosystem dey chase payments/logistics apps, these guys quietly dey solve one of the hardest, most capital-intensive problems for the continent — homegrown security hardware.

Question for the sub?

Should more Naija founders dey look outside fintech/consumer apps into "boring" high-capex sectors like defence, energy, industrial tech? Or e too risky/regulated to touch as a solo/small team? 🤔

Nigeria Is Now Exporting cars🚗 to Other African Countries, Here's the Factory Nobody's Talking About

While everyone is arguing about fuel prices, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing is pushing deeper into electric vehicles from its base in Nnewi.

Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing is the only Nigerian-owned company that designs, assembles, and produces cars entirely within Nigeria, operating out of a 40-hectare factory in Nnewi. The company began exporting to Ghana, Benin, Togo, and Senegal in 2024 and plans East Africa and UK expansion in 2026. Their range now spans sedans, SUVs, buses, pickups, and electric vehicles like the IVM Link and EX02.

They already have models like the IVM EX02 (330–400 km range) and EX01 on the road. This week Ben Murray-Bruce publicly called on founder Innocent Chukwuma to make EVs the company’s main focus, not a side project — citing Nigeria’s solar potential, lithium deposits, and rising fuel costs.

Innoson is also expanding with a new plant for CNG trucks and more EVs, targeting thousands of new jobs. They continue supplying the Army and other agencies with locally assembled vehicles.

Real Made-in-Nigeria hardware progress that keeps showing up in the news.

Would you buy a Nigerian-assembled electric car right now if the price and charging made sense? Or still waiting?

"A Nigerian Company Just Hit $3.25 BILLION — And Most of Us Have Never Heard the Full Story 🇳🇬💰

Flutterwave, Africa's most valuable Fintech company, has secured a Series E funding round at a $3.25 billion valuation following an investment from Ripple.

Both companies are integrating RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, into Flutterwave's payment infrastructure, allowing merchants and consumers to send, hold, and convert money using stablecoins.

This is genuinely hot — it's tied to the Central Bank of Nigeria's new Anti-Money Laundering Supervision Pilot, which reclassified Flutterwave and Paystack alongside crypto-native platforms.

🍲Turns Out Nigeria AND Ghana Have Been Fighting Over Someone Else's Rice This Whole Time😂

The Jollof wars between Nigeria and Ghana have been running for years — endless debates, social media battles, “my jollof is better than yours” energy.

But here’s the plot twist most people skip:

Jollof rice didn’t start in Nigeria or Ghana.

Historians and UNESCO both point to Senegal.

The original dish is called Thiéboudienne (or Ceebu Jën in Wolof) — “rice and fish.”

It comes from the fishing communities of Saint-Louis in Senegal and is tied to the old Wolof (Jolof) Empire. That’s where the name “Jollof” actually comes from.

Senegal’s version was even added to UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Nigeria and Ghana later developed their own popular tomato-based styles, and the two of us have been loudest about who does it best ever since.

So while we’ve been busy arguing about party jollof vs smoky party jollof, the Senegalese have been quietly sitting on the original recipe the whole time.

Does this change anything for you?

Or does “best taste” still matter more than origin?

Be honest in the comments 👇

Nigerian jollof still wins for you or are we finally ready to give Senegal their flowers?

🚨 300+ Kidnap Victims Rescued in ONE DAY — Nigeria's Biggest Security Win Yet?

Nigerian security forces have rescued 308 abducted citizens in what the Presidency is calling the largest single-day rescue operation in the country’s history.

Breakdown:

• 163 victims from the deadly February 2026 attack on Woro (and Nuku) communities in Kaiama LGA, Kwara State

• 145 others mostly from Niger State

They were freed from the dense forests of Kainji Lake National Park in Niger State after months in captivity.

• The joint operation involved the Armed Forces, Police, DSS, and the National Counter-Terrorism Centre. President Tinubu described it as proof of improving coordination among security agencies.

Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has already formally received the 163 Kwara victims in Ilorin.

Many are women and children. Some are still receiving medical treatment (reports say about 46 remain in hospital), and community leaders say 13 people from the original Woro abduction are still unaccounted for.

This is one of the few clear, large-scale wins against the kidnapping crisis that has terrorised parts of the North and North-Central for years.

Questions for the floor?

• Do you see this as a genuine turning point or just a one-off success?

• Should more pressure be put on finding the remaining 13 and the attackers?

• How do we sustain this kind of intelligence-led collaboration?

What are your honest thoughts, family? Drop them below.

Tinubu Approves 30%–80% Salary Increase for Nigerian Armed Forces – Lowest Ranks Get the Biggest Jump (Effective Sept 1)

Big one just dropped from the State House.

President Tinubu has approved salary increases ranging from 30% to 80% for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces. Roughly 250,000 personnel will benefit starting 1 September 2026.

Breakdown:

Officers above the rank of Colonel (Brigadier-General and above) → 30%

Colonel down to Warrant Officer → 50%

Private to Staff Sergeant → 80%

The annual salary bill for the armed forces will rise from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion.

This comes after earlier increases that took the minimum for soldiers from around ₦49k to ₦100k. The government says it’s part of prioritising troop welfare while they continue fighting insecurity.

What do you think?

Is this enough given the risks they face?

Should other security agencies (Police, Civil Defence, etc.) get something similar next?

Will this help morale and retention?

Two Big Things Happening in Naija Right Now: State Police Bill Moving Fast + Team Nigeria Finished 7th at Commonwealth Games with 24 Medals 🔥

Oya people, quick update on two stories dominating this week:

  1. State Police is getting real momentum

The Federal Government has rolled out a clear 7-week action plan for the National Policing Bill. Public engagement portal is now open, and the Executive Bill is expected on President Tinubu’s desk by September 3. Both the Senate and House have already passed versions of the constitutional amendment. This is one of the biggest security reforms in decades — dual federal + state police structure with safeguards. Many are calling it Tinubu’s most consequential security move yet.

  1. Team Nigeria finished strong at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

We ended 7th overall with 24 medals (10 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze) — the highest-ranked African nation. Standouts include Samuel Ogazi (men’s 400m gold), Ezekiel Nathaniel (men’s 400m hurdles gold — first ever for Nigeria), Chukwuebuka Enekwechi (shot put gold), and strong showings in para-powerlifting and weightlifting. Pure pride.

What are your honest takes?

Do you support state police or do you still have fears about governors abusing it?

Which of our Commonwealth Games performances made you proudest?

Any other story you’re watching more closely this week?

Let’s keep the conversation going, family.

Peller & Jarvis Just Got Married in a Star-Studded Lekki Wedding – ₦400m Mansion Gift, Celebrities Everywhere & Now a Strict White Wedding on Aug 8

Naija content creators no dey play o!

TikTok stars Habeeb Hamzat (Peller) and Amadou Elizabeth Aminata (Jarvis) officially tied the knot in a massive traditional wedding on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in Lekki, Lagos.

The event had everything: Aso Ebi everywhere, live performances, big politicians, influencers, Nollywood faces, Fuji legends, and gifts that made jaws drop.

Standout moments:

Real estate mogul King Ochacho gifted them a mansion in Abuja’s Life Camp reportedly worth ₦400 million, Cubana Chief Priest dropped ₦10 million

Combined announced gifts hit around ₦420 million

Guests included Cubana Chief Priest, Iyabo Ojo, Eniola Badmus, Geh Geh, Cute Abiola, Seun Kuti, Juma Jux, Kwam 1, Sule Alao Malaika and more

Over 50,000 people watched the livestream across platforms.

The couple already did their traditional rites in Benin City (June), civil wedding in Lagos (July 29), and now the big traditional celebration is done. Peller later announced that the white wedding has been moved to Saturday, August 8 and will be strictly limited to 80–100 guests only.

Reason? Too many cameras, bloggers and uninvited people at the Lekki event. He wants a more private ceremony this time.

From Ghana proposal to Edo traditional, Lagos civil, and now this star-studded Lekki party – their love story has been playing out fully in public under #Jarpel2026 and #JP2026.

What do you think?

Was the ₦400m mansion the biggest flex of the night?

Do you support limiting the white wedding after the chaos?

Are influencer weddings the new standard for Naija soft life?

Who else should have been on that guest list?

Drop your honest takes below.

This one is pure Made-in-Naija energy.

Nigerians Can Finally Own a Piece of Africa’s Biggest Refinery – Dangote IPO Coming September 2026 (Biggest Ever on the Continent)

Oya people of r/madeinnaija, the wait is almost over.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has formally filed its IPO application with the SEC.

Target listing window is September 2026 on the Nigerian Exchange, with talk of possible secondary listings on other African exchanges.

This is set to be the largest IPO in African history.

Key details so far:

Valuation range being discussed: around $40 billion (some estimates go as high as $50 billion)

Expected to raise $1.5–2 billion by selling roughly 5–10% of the company

Just closed a record $2.5 billion private placement that was 3.7 times oversubscribed at roughly the same valuation

650,000 barrels-per-day capacity – Africa’s largest single-train refinery already transforming Nigeria’s fuel landscape by cutting import dependence and exporting products across the region.

Aliko Dangote has repeatedly said ordinary Nigerians and African retail investors should get the chance to own a stake in this asset. After years of watching the biggest Nigerian success story stay private, the doors are about to open.

This is more than just another listing. It’s a test of how deep the Nigerian capital market really is, a potential game-changer for NGX market cap and liquidity, and a rare chance for everyday people (not just institutions and big boys) to participate in one of the most strategic industrial assets on the continent.

Questions for the floor:

Are you planning to apply when the offer opens?

How much are you thinking of putting in if the price is accessible?

Do you believe the $40bn valuation is fair given the private placement demand?

Will this finally push more Nigerians into the stock market the way MTN and others did years ago?

Any concerns about timing, naira volatility, or how the retail allocation will work?

Drop your thoughts below.

This one feels different. History is about to be made in Naija capital markets.

What say you, family?

$350k up for grabs for 12 Nigerian startups under iDICE Growth Lab — deadline Aug 19

12-week hybrid accelerator, mostly virtual with two weeks physical in Lagos.

They are specifically encouraging women-led startups to apply.

Applications close August 19, so still time if any founders here are eligible.

Paystack just launched a free 4-week growth program for small business owners — worth applying?

Small Business Launchpad opens its first cohort August 27, capped at 50 businesses, covering customer acquisition, cash flow, and operations with direct Paystack support.

Applications don't look extremely competitive yet since it's brand new.

Anyone here run a business that might qualify? Curious if programs like this are actually useful or mostly networking theater.

Nigeria's building its first drone manufacturing plant — in Enugu, not Lagos

A ₦12.95 billion partnership between Arone and the state-owned Institute of Management and Technology is setting up a plant to produce 5,000 drones and 30,000 other units locally.

Feels notable that it's landing in Enugu instead of the usual Lagos/Abuja tech corridor.

Curious if this actually changes anything for local hardware manufacturing, or if it's mostly assembly of imported components rebranded as "made in Nigeria."

Anyone closer to this space have real insight?
