Learning to pitch

I’ve been putting off learning to flip/pitch for the better part of 2 decades in favor of just throwing a spinnerbait. The last few weeks I have just glued a jig in my hands and it’s paid off. Pretty stoked for my guntersville trip next month.

Debating how to get into bfs

I really want to get into bfs fishing but don’t currently have the budget for it. Around Christmas time I’ll be able to get a rod and reel setup and I’ve been kicking around a few ideas on how to start. My main idea is to take advantage of the Christmas discount my dad gets from shimano through the tackle shop he works at. Basically he can get 50% off on up to 6 items direct from shimano’s website, and the cheapest bfs rod and reel on their site is the curado line rod and reel, it’d come up to about $225. Is there a better option in the price range or is that going to be my best option? Max budget for rod, reel, line, and a few more baits is gonna be $300. Based out of Oklahoma if that helps narrow down my options.

Cal/mag question

I’ve been feeding nutes every other watering on my current grow, with cal/mag going in every watering. Just flipped over to flower, is it important to keep using cal/mag through flower, or should I dial it back or just cut it out?

Growth timeline

I’m in roughly week 7 of veg in a 2x2x4, should I switch to flower now or give it another week or 2? Can the stretch be trained along the net or should I let it stretch upwards? I have trained this plant around 1/3 available height in the tent so if stretching upward is recommended I can handle that. Also for the experienced growers are there any glaring issues or things I should do differently with canopy management?

Small fish turned my day around

I had about 10 minutes to fish a large pond (not the one in the pictures) on my way to work this morning, got my spinnerbait all screwed up on a bad cast into a tree, got it back but the skirt was tangled, leaves stuck in the blades, all that fun stuff. Bounced it around in the water right at my feet to shake the leaves off and untangle the skirt when I thought I got it snagged on some sticks in the water. I couldn’t really see what it was snagged on since the water at that pond is extremely dirty. As I’m gently pulling my spinnerbait back up, instead of sticks coming up with it, about a 4 pound largemouth came up, which would have been the biggest I’ve caught in that pond. I tried to set the hook since it hadn’t really gotten it very good, and of course instead of hooking it I send my bait about 10 feet overhead and the fish swims away. I had about 2 minutes left before I needed to get rolling so I tried to cast around and see if I could pick that fish back up, but it was gone and I left that pond disappointed. Later in the morning I had a few minutes to hit a smaller pond, and when I got there I could see bass schooling on some sunfish in the middle of the pond. In about 15 minutes there I got 4 little guys in, and had 2 other bites that didn’t get the hook. All in all not a bad day for about 30 minutes of pond fishing.

Oklahoma river

Does anybody know if the river in Oklahoma City has bass in it? I see people bank fishing all the time down there but it mostly looks like guys catfishing. The area I’m most curious about is the stretch from western to the dam just east of it. I work in the area often and it would be nice to be able to hop down there and bass fish on breaks occasionally.

Lower mountain fork

Has anybody on here fished the Lower Mountain Fork river in Oklahoma recently? Having a hard time finding much info about it and im going to be there next weekend. Mostly wanting to know what nymphs and dries are good to fish through summer out there. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to stop at their fly shop while im there, and I have a fly shop local to me that I can use to load up on flies before I leave.

Market value?

Just curious what you guys would think the market value is on this? I don’t need it around anymore and need some cash more than this car. I have no idea what I should even begin to ask for on this since I see so few listings. Heck I even saw a 91 accord wagon that hasn’t been started in 5 years listed for $2,000. I wanna know what would be a realistic market value that can have this car sold relatively quick. It is a 94 accord lx, 175k miles, automatic, wired for a sub which I still have but the amp is fried, I do have the OEM plastic wheel covers, tonneau cover, and rubber floor mats for front seats and cargo space. No major mechanical issues.

First time fly fisherman

I live in bass country, bought a cheap fly rod for the hell of it last fall, and it sat in my closet since then. My family wanted to take a trip to Crested Butte this summer so I figured I’d bring the fly rod. I’m hooked now, and plan to get some fish on the fly in a few weeks at one of my state’s 2 trout fisheries. I’m planning to get a 7 wt rod before fall fishing begins so I can throw some larger bass flies, as I’m much closer to bass fishing water than I am to trout fishing water.
