I'm about over the issues of trying to get this 469 cam and 550's to run right. It's not fun anymore.
Will 380's run fine with stock/WMW mild cam, 15% pulley, .5MM over pistons and CAI? Obviously with a remap.
I'm back again, with my issue of bogging when pressing the throttle when cold still very present. If you blip the throttle it bogs, and will staying bogging as long as you have the throttle open.
I have so far replaced all vacuum lines, coil, wires, plugs, vacuum ports, all seals, BPV, etc. I have also had Adrian check the tune multiple times, and there's no issues showing up electronically when it's running.
This last time around, we decided to pull the 30 mile old plugs. It appears cylinder 3 is running much richer than the others, as the plug is black and covered in soot and smells of gas. The remaining plugs are gray/brownish.
Any ideas? I'm thinking injector gone bad?
Mods: 469 Cat Cam, JCW head, .5 over pistons, 15% pulley, 550 injectors.
Edit: Compression test shows 151-154 psi across all 4 cylinders.
Alright, after 6 months, I'm stumped.
The symptoms- Severe bogging down if you quickly press the throttle at idle. RPM drop to 3-400, and it stays there until it eventually spikes to 1500 and then stabilizes. If you ease into the throttle, or if the RPM are already above 1500 and you spoke the throttle, it does fine.
No CEL, No EML.
The engine was a transplant from another R53. It has a JCW head, 469 catcam, 550cc injectors, .5 over pistons, 2% crank pulley, 15% supercharger pulley, and I had it tuned by Adrian.
It initially did have air leaks at the green gasket, and both vacuum ports on the supercharger pipe, which I have since fixed, and now there are no leaks when smoke testing.
So far I have:
Replaced vacuum ports and lines at supercharger pipe
Replaced green gasket
Replaced throttle body gasket
Replaced spark plugs
Replaced intercooler boots
What am I missing here?
Edit: the original engine ran fine, and I still have it, so if there are any parts you recommend I swap over to test, I have them available.
I've replaced the gasket twice on the return line and it continues to leak. Anyone have a solution for this? It's seeping out at the mating surface.
Howdy! I am currently chasing down an exhaust leak on my mk7. I finally wrestled the heat shield off the manifold, and found that three of the nuts at the manifold were just finger tight, and the vband clamp around the turbo was also finger tight. Any other spots to check before I put it back together?
I'm getting a whining noise from my Fiesta ST that I got a few weeks ago. I thought maybe it was the infamous transmission whine, but it does it in all gears, in neutral, clutch up, clutch down, standing still, etc. it makes it from about 2k-3k rpm.
Sounds pretty similar to a sustained pigeon cooing, or like blowing across the top of a glass bottle.
Edit: Yeah, won't be picking it up. Sounds like they're wildly unreliable. I already have a money pit hatch (R53) I'm good without another.

I'm looking to get out of my 20 year old Volvo as a daily driver, and found a 2018 Sonic LT with 60k and a six speed at a dealer for about $7k. I looked it over and it doesn't make any noises, vibrations, drives nice, etc. Also, who ever had it before seemed to be in the know, since all the radiator hoses were changed to silicone, and the expansion tank is new, and the valve cover has been swapped.
The only thing I found was that once warm, if you depress the clutch in neutral the rpm will drop slightly and then spike slightly when you release it.
Any ideas? Should I pass on it, or is there anything in particular to look for?
