another entp 4w3

i’ve taken many personality tests and my results across multiple appear consistent with this “seemingly impossible” combination that more than one person has posted about already. i haven’t done a lot of reading about it, so i’m interested in other peoples’ perspectives and expertise.

here’s what i have:

mbti

entp-t (debater)

before college, i was intp. during college i was enfp, and afterwards i tested again into entp. as you can see, the other two cluster around the final result. i also defend my entp because i’m a huge devil’s advocate and love arguing, so the more i see people say “this combination is impossible!” the more i want to challenge that.

enneagram

4w3

body:

  • 8 - 93%
  • 9 - 79%
  • 1 - 67%

head:

  • 5 - 90%
  • 6 - 42%
  • 7 - 76%

heart:

  • 2 - 98%
  • 3 - 95%
  • 4 - 98%

if you look at the five i got > 90% in, you’ll notice they cluster around 4:

  • the disintegration line of 4 -> 2 -> 8
  • both wings, 3 and 5
  • plus i’m > 95% in all three heart types

i also defend my 4 because i find it very satisfying to be a combination people routinely say is “impossible,” and also to be the rarer of the wings. i do a ton of introspection and obviously have invested in many personality assessments. before i took the enneagram, i personally experienced the line of disintegration. under stress i went toward 2 - i became more empathetic, reaching out to people in the way that i wanted to be reached out to. when i felt repeatedly dismissed by my ex, i went to a full (unhealthy) 8 through a systematic verbal teardown.

color code

  • 41% yellow (fun)
  • 27% blue (intimacy)
  • 26% red (power)

from what i understand, blue and red are contradictory, so it’s weird for them to be even, but that contradiction matches many of the other contrasting results i’ve gotten

clifton

  1. belief
  2. woo (winning others over)
  3. ideation
  4. input
  5. adaptability

input and ideation are classic entp. i do want to point out that ideation is actually compatible with e4 too. also, belief apparently contradicts both woo and adaptability

i’d be curious to hear any analysis or pushback. is anyone else as convinced as i am that these are valid and consistent as results and also align with the way that i’m thinking and presenting myself? is there anything i’m missing, or even any other personality tests that might be interesting to look at?

does anyone know where the gold scrap is?

i found it in the list of actions and saw a post where someone said that when you give it to toy type m2 the robot gives you a bomb. it’s not the broken pocket watch, neither the scrap merchant nor m2 respond to that

i enjoyed looking at and trying out most of the secret tips posted on this subreddit but i didn’t want to get all 23 album pictures at all hahaha… i think it’s the samurai and challenger overriding the researcher and collector?

if you ended up filling out all of the album pictures, what were your personality traits?

contacts transparent png shortcut trick broken?

i tried clipboard, files, and base64. it was working a couple of weeks ago, i don’t know what changed

EDIT: it seems like as long as i have icloud for contacts enabled, any new or edited contact will no longer have transparency

how to make liquid glass app icons

this is an in-depth tutorial on manually creating transparent, "glasslike" app icons for your home screen.

glasslike icons with custom app art

this works best if you have a specific layout and don't plan on moving apps around or changing wallpapers a lot. of course, you can always go back through the whole process each time you change your home screen. i personally have multiple layouts set with different wallpapers and link the layout and the wallpaper to a focus mode.

the \"transparency\" is an illusion

the easiest method

u/Narrow-Glove1084 created a method where all you really need is some way to edit images. you can start by setting home screen shortcuts with a black image, set clear icon, screenshot, and cut out each app background. you can add your custom icons on top of that. this is great if you want to stick more strictly to native effects.

capturing native clear app backgrounds

you can toggle dim in the top left with the sun icon.

my more complicated method

if you want higher quality icons with more customization, you can use the method that i adapted from this comment by u/Dasswussguud, updated after seeing this post by u/Designedlife1321 using figma (i use the browser version on my ipad and the desktop version on my mac). for full glass-on-glass layering for the app logo, i use icon composer on mac.

if you want additional glass effects for your custom icon, i recommend icon composer

this tutorial is for people like me who aren't super familiar with this software, so i will be providing a lot of details.

1. plan your layout

figure out exactly how you want your apps set up ahead of time if possible, including whether you want normal or large apps. also know if you plan on using icon composer to add effects, because that will affect how you scale your files.

layout idea

2. calibrate in figma

screenshot on power save mode to prevent the home screen depth effect from shifting wallpaper and app layout.

this is my figma setup for iphone se. i have multiple layouts for normal and large apps, as well as widgets. i have also scaled glass effect depth to try to match native effects, although i did customize frost, splay, and blend effects in appearance to my own preference. you can use this as a template, or copy the slice, glass refraction, and import background here layers to your own setup.

first, you have to save a copy. click on the dropdown next to the file name and duplicate to your drafts.

then, from the left sidebar layers panel, select import background here. on the right sidebar, find the image thumbnail under fill. click on that, click on the popup, and you should see the option to upload from computer. upload your layout first to calibrate.

upload your layout

if you want me to calibrate your layout on figma for you, please let me know! all i need is your layout screenshot.

scaling down

what i found helpful was scaling everything down (press k on your keyboard to scale) so that the screenshot size matches actual image size. i pull out my calculator and do a simple equation:

>target screenshot width divided by current screenshot width multiplied by the current group width (there's that white rectangle in the back)

this equation can also be applied later to scaling the entire group so that the app icon is a specific size, or targeting certain elements that scale beyond 100 (but you can't set past 100 manually).

adjust your app icons

then you can zoom in and match each app icon to each app group folder. when you zoom to actual size it tends to be more pixel perfect; when it's scaled up i get weird numbers. i found that hiding the glass effect layer and focusing on the dotted line helps to be super exact. after getting the dimensions, unhide glass effect so that you can adjust corner radius (how rounded the icon corners are).

scaling up for icon composer

scaling down is optional, but if you plan on using icon composer i like to make sure app icons are 1024x1024 by scaling up with the same equation:

>1024 (target icon size) divided by current icon size multiplied by current group width

3. fine-tuning

stroke

you can set an outline with linear stroke. i copied the original link and set gradient to 100%, 0%, 100%, then made the gradient go from the top right corner to the bottom left corner.

glass effect

you can experiment with the glass effect in this menu:

glass effect options

depth and frost can scale up past 100 but you can't manually set them above 100. you have to use k and scale it up, then exit scale and reset dimensions, corner radius, and stroke weight.

you can also change the color, opacity, and blend mode here:

fill options

i like using plus lighter and plus darker but it's worth experimenting with.

adding an app icon

you can insert your app icon under the slice layer if you don't plan on using icon composer. you can even add shadows and other effects to it.

4. exporting from figma

select the group you're exporting, and use ctrl/cmd + shift + e or go to the figma icon at the top right -> file -> export. uncheck anything that doesn't say slice. then you can export and save to files.

5. icon composer (optional)

if you want a layered glass look, icon composer is great for getting native effects. i like to split my icon up into multiple layers. import your layers and your app background into icon composer - i usually just split screen and drag but copy/paste works too.

if you want the layering effect, you might want to split each layer into its own group.

here are my group settings for the background slice:

background group settings

for the layers, i usually like chromatic shadow, although it doesn't work as well if the layer is super light. in that case i use neutral shadow at 100%.

chromatic shadow

i also like to experiment with blend mode, blur, and translucency.

blend mode

if an icon is not standing out enough, i often duplicate the group. if the icon is on a darker background, i make the bottom group a light/screen/plus lighter blend and the top group an overlay/soft light or other blend mode. if the icon is on a darker background, the bottom group could be darken, multiply, or hard light, and the top could could be lighten/screen/overlay/soft light or another blend mode.

i recommend saving an icon file if you ever want to swap out the background. export using cmd + shift + e when you're done tweaking it.

done!

i assume most people know how to set these icons using shortcuts, open app, add to home screen. let me know if you get stuck on this part!

if you're interested in my pixel art app icons, i share how i make them and a link to some of the raw icon layers i've created so far in this post; feel free to request more icons! i share my process for isolating translucent app icons with procreate in this post targeted at liquid glass app icons. if you're interested in using transparent pngs to create custom app icons that can actually shift between normal and dark app mode, i post about that here.

i hope this has been useful for people interested in this effect. let me know if you have any questions or requests, or if there are better or easier ways to do any of this!

hacking depth effect detection for lock screen wallpapers in ios 26

depth effect can allow foreground elements of your wallpaper to overlap the clock. unfortunately, if you have 2d vector or pixel art with crisp edges, ai detection usually fails. if you can blur areas of your wallpaper, you can force depth effect. others have tested this by blurring half of the screen, which is a really interesting look. my strategy has been to blur the sky and lower the opacity and that has generally worked for me.

one thing to note: depth effect overlap is not always compatible with spatial scene unless there is a strong foreground element that can basically stay in place while the background shifts

one other hack that can work is

  1. set the unblurred wallpaper
  2. turn on depth detection
  3. leave the wallpaper customization interface
  4. return and replace with the blurred wallpaper

transparent png shortcut light/dark mode gradient

right now in ios 26, adding a shortcut to your home screen with a transparent png gives it a flat white app background by default and a dark gray gradient in dark mode. you can flatten the dark mode background or add a gradient to light mode without affecting the other mode by gradient masking the other mode’s app background and adjusting opacity.

this also has some creative utility - you could do a white cloud in light mode that turns into a dark cloud with raindrops in dark mode. you could do a sun that turns into a moon. i will be making mockups of these ideas and more later!

(the original post is a little too niche)

isolating ios 26 liquid glass app icons while maintaining translucency

if you want to change the background of any app icon, or isolate any other image from its background, this might be a good starting point. i use procreate on iphone for this process. i sourced icons from logopedia, the google play store website, as well as other google image results and my own low quality screenshots.

(original profile post here)

start with your app icon. if it has apple’s default white or dark mode app backgrounds you can paste one of the two images i will leave in the comments. if it has a straight vertical gradient like this app icon, you can use the technique shown here.

gestures note: where the copy & paste menu appears, i have swiped down with 3 fingers. i also merge multiple layers by pinching them together.

creating an empty app icon
- duplicate your app icon
- using rectangle select, grab a thin rectangle at the edge of the icon, being careful not to touch the border or the icon or the shadow of the icon
- swipe down with 3 fingers, duplicate, transform, freeform mode, and extend it across the app but not all the way
- if there are edges peeking out at the top and bottom, select the original app icon layer again, rectangle select again, being careful not to touch any visible parts of the icon or shadow. repeat the duplication and freeform transform
- when all parts of the app icon have been covered, merge the layers with a pinch

get the difference between the app icon and the empty app icon
i’ve covered this in my profile post with a simpler process so if you saw that you can skip down.
- change the blend mode of the empty app icon to difference
- swipe down with 3 fingers and copy all

adjust the difference before masking
here’s where things get more complicated. the simple method linked above usually results in icons that are slightly more transparent than desired. the following process increases the opacity while leaving some parts translucent.
- using freehand select, go around the edges (while trying to avoid the shadows), invert the selection, and fill the layer with black
- separate the background (which has the shadow) from the app icon if necessary by using automatic select and duplicating it
- go to adjustments -> color adjustments -> hue, saturation, brightness and turn saturation to 0%. turn brightness up to increase the opacity of the app icon
- back in color adjustments, go to curves and on the gamma tab, move the top right corner to the left. (from what i understand this has a similar effect to increasing brightness but with more control)
- for your background layer, just do saturation and curve; skip brightness. this will make the shadow slightly more visible
- merge the background and app icon layers with a pinch. copy the layer

set a mask on the app icon
here’s where the tutorials converge:
- (hide everything except your original app icon) mask your original app icon layer and deselect the app icon by swiping right on it
- swipe down with 3 fingers and paste your adjusted difference in the mask

done!

you can add in any app background after this, including a (fake) “transparent” app background. you can also try app icons that swap between light and dark mode! (requires a transparent png) here is one method of making gradients look consistent between light/dark modes

using native app icons with fake transparent icons

it’s not my long term setup but i was testing it out. here is my process for isolating app icons and here is how i did the app backgrounds

reversible dock setup

if you have dark icons set to auto you can use a transparent png to allow the background color to come through. i added shading/grey gradient backgrounds by gradient masking an empty dark app icon and lowering the opacity.

since i have multiple setups i couldn’t really use the liquid glass hack so this is my current solution

looking for suggestions

thinking of making a minimalist year calendar widget series, but i think the design is missing something and im looking for suggestions. planning to make options to pick between circles and squares and accent color as well, but i’m wondering whether i should put the names of the months, change spacing, or anything else. all feedback appreciated!

i really like how these turned out but the first one will have to stay in landscape mode… somehow i didn’t realize there were naturally transparent widgets for clock, battery, and files. not sure which other apps have it?

pixel glass ios - using figma to slice app backgrounds

this is page one of my checkpoint workflow; here i have apps i’d like to check at the end of every day. the wallpapers are "stars" and "space" by @16pxl on twitter. this is the second post providing the next step of instructions - you can view the full list of posts at the bottom.

figma app slicer instructions: i used the link from this comment, rearranging it for my specific setup (iphone se). like the original commenter, this is my first time using figma. i’m using the desktop app on my macbook and the browser version on my ipad.

first, you have to save a copy. click on the dropdown next to the file name and Duplicate to your drafts.

then, from the left sidebar Layers panel, select Import Background Here. (if you’re trying to get widget slices, you’ll have to go into the widget folder -> Widget - Glass -> Mask Group -> Widget Background.)

on the right sidebar, find the Image thumbnail under Fill. click on the word Image. it should pop up bigger. click on the bigger image and you should see the option to Upload from computer. (there are instructions in the document too but basically you go into Edit Home Screen and take a screenshot of a blank page. i also moved my dock apps off.)

i had to adjust dimensions for the screenshot as well as scale and adjust app and widget size. once i was happy with the dimensions, i scaled everything up so that the app size was correct for icon composer (1024x1024).

once you’re ready to export, go to the figma icon at the top left -> File -> Export (or ctrl + shift + E) and check the Slice files you want. you can select a folder before exporting to narrow down the selection. to get just the background, i deleted all of the existing icons. then, for each icon i made, i dragged the specific slice i needed into icon composer and then the actual icon i made on top

pixel art + liquid glass photos app

i’m making a series of liquid glass/colorful clear pixel art icons for different focus workflows; this is one is for projects. the photos app icon is really finicky in icon composer if you want it to look glasslike but not oversaturated. i found that multiple layers with different blend modes and turning translucency up helped, and that it has to be tuned differently for each background. the wallpaper is by @16pxl on twitter. i manually blurred it for depth effect detection.

i’ve also made posts highlighting the maps and camera app icons.

here is the google drive where you can find pixel icon raws. i’m also working on making default light/dark mode icons along with .icon files for each. please feel free to request any icons i don’t already have.

here is the post where i list all of the posts i’ve made in this series so far as well as links to what i use to put everything together.

pixel art + liquid glass camera icon

back with another setup! this one is my work workflow. wallpaper from @16pxl on twitter. camera icon inspired by this ai generated concept. i like the idea of combining the older and newer renditions of the icon. pixel + liquid glass with icon composer

making a series of focus mode workflows. this one is what i use when driving. wallpaper from @16pxl on twitter, i manually blurred it for depth effect. icons also adapted by me (linked below, feel free to request specific icons); i used the wallpaper slicer from another post (linked below, instructions linked with my adaptation) and then put it together in icon composer (general instructions in original post)

pixel art + clear icon nebula wallpapers

making multiple workflow-based focus modes; second in the series starting from this post. artist is @16pxl on twitter. i manually applied the blur; more info on how to do clear icons in the original post.

u/thornlingg — 2 months ago

i’m creating a series of focus modes for specific workflows with different pixel art wallpapers. (that’s why the dock isn’t synced to this wallpaper—it needs to be universal.) this particular one is actually a page from my no-focus setup. after doing all of my app icons, i’ll look into doing widgets with widgy as well

wallpaper: from jubilee @16pxl on twitter, i blurred some parts of it to get depth effect to work (gaussian blur for the sky, perspective + gaussian for the foreground water). hacked overlap by using the unblurred version first, enabling depth effect, and then leaving and coming back to swap in the blurred version. overlap is incompatible with spatial scene for this wallpaper because it lacks a strong foreground element.

clear icons: i used the link from this comment, rearranging it for my specific setup (i still prefer the se) and then scaling it up so that the app slices were 1024x1024 pixels. [edited, had the wrong size]

i did the pixel art layers in procreate on my phone and scaled it to a 1024x1024 pixel canvas, then exported to icon composer and changed each group’s liquid glass effect until i was satisfied.

my icon composer settings:

icon (base background color):

  • automatic (white) for a frosted/light diffusion effect at the bottom

layers (mostly in separate groups):

  • usually hardlight or overlay (or some lower opacity combination of both)
  • blur on
  • chromatic shadow (if the icon is too light might do an additional group with a higher opacity neutral shadow)

background (app slice):

  • no specular
  • blur on
  • no shadow
